thats the scary part. We will end up with les miles or something. I don't think stephen would ever fire garrett that is why I usually pay no attention to that stuff because I just don't see it as a real thing.

A few more games where dez is not involved could change that but really I don't see Stephen ever doing that.
Thanks for your insight, but I think that if a change is coming, it should be in the next year or so. That way Dak can get his own coaching, his own offense, and his team. It makes no sense to continue running an offense that only Romo can operate, when he is on his last legs.

I have often wondered why the media never asks Garrett the tough questions, good to see that Archer did.

Jerry felt the need to make an entrance.

honestly I am so tired of the helicopter and that stupid practice facility talk. The local media spent two weeks talking about helicopters and the practice facility.

I hope its over now and they understand it doesn't matter.

I think the bottom line is that this team this coaching staff and front office are just not very good its starts at the top there is no accountability from the gm on down when you cant lose your job its not a good situation.

In the postgame pc for Garrett yesterday he said dez was doubled, then said they committed to the line of scrimmage to stop the run. In the past the local media would just repeat this but Yesterday Todd Archer earned even more of my respect when he called Garrett on it asking how could they double dez and commit all those bodies to the line of scrimmage to stop the run...then asked how other teams get their doubled WR the ball. Garrett had no answer.

I have never been a member of the fire garrett club, I really lost most of my respect and hope I had for him in 13 when he threw romo under the bus after the packers loss. It was a turd move then and still bugs me today. Having said this I think the time has come, something is off here.

Welcome to the club. Better late than never.

I was at the game. The crowd was pretty loud on giants' 3rd downs.

i only recall two loud third downs honestly. They didn't have the ball that much. The loudest one was the one they converted on the drive where they were running the clock at the end.

Haven't done this in years. I will try to be as brief and to the point as possible.

I got to the stadium at 11:30 and went in the gate to the plaza at noon when they first opened as I always do. I sat outside and watched the red zone channel on the big screen. There are 4 big screens in the west plaza, they are all about the size of a garage door. One of them had the redzone channel and the other three had shots of the DJ. Riveting stuff that dj.

The girl that hosts the plaza activities was repeatedly doing her bits.."how bout them cowboys, Who is here to see the cowboys win...etc etc.." No one reacted. it was just dead. No atmosphere.

at about 12:30 ish a huge cheer went up from everyone on the plaza..You know why? Because that stupid helicopter showed up with jerry. People on the plaza were cheering because jerry showed up.

Went into the stadium at 1 and sat down to watch pregame stuff. Fans taking pictures of themselves everywhere with the scoreboard behind them.

I have been to every Cowboys Giants game since 03 except the 06 which I missed. Yes the Romo game. Yesterday was the worst crowd yet for a rivalry game like this. There was no atmosphere. I sit on the visitors side and naturally i will have visiting fans around me. For years my section was filled with season ticket holders. They have all sold their seats away to businesses who scalp the tickets. I am now surrounded by visiting fans. Its awful. Everybody sells their seats for profit. I use to complain about this 24/7 now I just do not care anymore, its what this town is. People care about money more than being fans here, nothing I can do about it or anyone else. Probably explains why this town loves jerry.

There was almost no noise when the giants had the ball all game except for two drives on third down. It was really a pathetic crowd. You know what got the loudest cheers yesterday in the second half?
The 50/50 raffle and the three helmet shuffle. The kiss cam was a notch below. When the giants had the ball, almost silence.

This was one of the worst home crowds I have ever been a part of. Just terrible all around. I am starting to think people have just had enough, enough of Jerry, enough of Garrett and sadly many blame romo and have had enough of him. I think this is why a lot of people who used to own tickets around me just sold them in the offseason. I don't mean sold the game tickets I mean they sold their psl's and have no tickets anymore. I think people are just tired of the whole thing.

I fully expect the chicago game to be a nightmare. I expect Dallas to lose at washington and I bet since this is a saturday night game bears fans will be about 40% of the crowd like they were the last two times they were here for those monday night games. Its going to royally suck.

On to the game. Many of us tried to tell everyone how good this giants defense was going to be and how hard it would be to run on them. I knew getting to the edge would be extremely hard and it proved to be impossible, elliot got one chance on the edge and he couldn't shake the safety who tackled him easily. The giants said all week exactly what they were going to do and they did it. Hats off to them.

I see people blaming williams. I think he made a horrible play but bailey is not making a 62 yard field goal anyway.

I felt like the game turned completely to the giants in the third quarter when La'el collins got the holding and backed dallas up, after that point it felt like the giants played downhill on defense and had zero respect for Dak. They were proven right. I thought Dak played well in the first half, the dez drop was on dez..he has to catch that and the beasley drop i felt was on dak. If he throws that in front of beasley its 7-0 Dallas.

I have a pet peeve about playing offense first. I think it makes zero sense. The crowd here is usually at its loudest after the kickoff. The crowd is at its weakest the first drive out of the half. Garrett insists on taking the ball first and then giving the visiting team a third quarter opening drive when half the fans are not in their seats. I don't understand it.

Why was byron jones on the sideline during the giants drive for a td before the half? Whose idea is it to Rotate safeties? Are they trying to develop Barry church after 6 years in the league? How is this an agreed upon philosophy? Were they trying to keep jones fresh after the giants 12 or 14 plays of the first two drives? Give me a break. That was as bad a decision as I have seen this staff make in years.

Why did cole beasley take over on punts in the second half? Was this because of injury or coaches decision? I have never heard an explanation. This to me makes zero sense if it was a coaches decision.

How do you not get dez the ball? he needs to be into the game at all times. His energy alone picks everyone up on the team and in the stands. Couldn't you run a reverse or throw a smoke when they are playing off him just to get him into the game? I don't understand how you just ignore your best playmaker for an entire game?

In the second half I thought Dak was pretty bad. he looked extremely inaccurate and seemed to make repeated mental errors. He looked like matt cassell in the jets game for a string of plays there. I like the guy and he could be a really good player with time but he is really inaccurate and struggled yesterday I thought in the second half. The giants came out of the half and saw that Dallas would just keep running into the wall they created and then Dak would check it down and they just attacked. I said this yesterday and I will stand by it, if Dak is this inaccurate going forward he will get one of our players injured. We were lucky yesterday he didn't get beasley and witten injured.

Garrett tied his job to Rob Ryan and then Monte Kiffen/Rod Marinelli. I think these are two of the worst coordinators in the league, the league basically had showed that the defenses are done and they can not win with it. He doubled down on marinelli who is an excellent line coach but I think a terrible judge of talent and I am not so sure he is very good coordinator. We have no size on defense. If you have a fast team that is an ok trait but we are slow and weak. When parcells was here everyone complained we were too slow...we were big and powerful but slow, under wade we got a little lighter and the front 7 played faster and the scheme was good. Now the scheme is bad, we are slow, small and weak. I don't understand how this happened or how this is acceptable.

The problem I have with all this firing nonsense is that Jerry will just do something even worse when hiring the next one. three years of building this terrible defense and its still terrible. They talk all offseason about Bryon Jones being a difference maker and then he is sitting via a rotation with barry church and jj wilcox in a critical drive of the opening game. I wouldn't have believed that in a million years. Why would he be rotating with anyone? Unbelievable.

I thought with the addition of Butler Dallas would put Dez in the slot next to him and take advantage of the speed and size combo of these two but nope.

Keith smith made a killer block when morris was in during the third quarter then they proceeded to never use them again. I think sometimes they just over analyze things. It looked good a few times with the fullback and morris had more burst getting through the holes, he had a hole to run through which was nice.

I am not worried about elliot because he had nowhere to run to. I do wonder what his second gear is? Does he have one? The giants defense looked so big and fast and I got the feeling Zeke could not out run anyone on their defense yesterday.

How do you not try and throw zeke the ball in space and give him a chance? They tried one screen to zeke and he couldn't get out of the wash of players. They never tried it again. that seems crazy to me.

Tony Romo was on the ticket and usually the person on the ticket is on the program but it looks like they went and changed it up and put zeke on the program this week.

I heard broaddus this morning talking about that final drive where dez and butler were open and dak threw underneath and inaccurately. In the stadium I saw what he saw, dez was running away and he checked it down, he had butler wide open on the deep comeback and threw it to witten. Hopefully he corrects this.

On a positive note I remember russell wilson's first game at arizona was similar, he drove them down to the redzone and couldn't score and they lost and he has turned out fine.

My biggest reaction from this week and the past two weeks is how quickly the local media and the fans have flushed Tony Romo down the toilet and forgotten about him. Its sad and angers me. I don't think he has much more left than this season and next year but to see how he is treated is pretty poor and says a lot about the fans in this town, the media and cowboys fans nationally.

I hope and think romo will play vs the bengals. I hope we are not 0-4. I think we will win at SF but I don't see any other wins besides that one. I fear the balanced teams because the giants basically played like they can't run and then did. They ran easily and in the important moments when they had to they ran at will.

I heard jessie holley on the postgame say the giants line is one of the worst in the league and that they have neglected it for years and not put any assets into it. What? They have two 1's and a 2 on the line. Is it so hard for the fan to have people who know something on the postgame show?

In the end I feel like this season is a dead end. They did nothing to help the defense and I think it will get worse because we have a number of guys who never stay healthy. McClain, lee and hitchens always seem to be hurt. If they get hurt we are toast.

oh and also I think washington wins big tonight vs the steelers. I think they get the ball to their best player in jackson.

I really hope the better members of the media here, guys like archer start to ask tough questions of this head coach this week and do not back down. I hope they will not accept the crap answers they get. Its time for some of the stuff that goes on here to be explained.

anyway sorry for the rant, I am an idiot and get that and I am probably wrong and we will go 13-3 or whatever but I just don't see it. Romo corrects almost all the issues and gives us a shot we don't have him and maybe never will who knows. Something is wrong here though and it won't get fixed during the season which makes me feel like we are in for a really bad season.
Great post. As a former season ticket holder for 5 seasons when we lived near Dallas (Irving actually) I see that you raise many familiar themes. Although the selling of tickets for a profit seems to be a growing practice among psl owners more and more across the league. I hear it from a lot of my fellow fans from other teams. They're like "I have season tickets but I sell 4 of them to help pay for the high cost" blah blah blah. They sell them when marquee teams come to town with fan bases who travel well and then go to the scrub games to show that they're the man. "Yo, you catch that game against the Bills yesterday? Dude, we were there and had great seats!?! You know I am a season ticket holder, right?!" You know he story.

From my TV view yesterday, I thought Cole shud've definitely caught that pass across the middle inside the 10. Sure, it was A BIT high but he didn't even need to fully extend for it. In fact I'd say it was a routine catch and would've been a walkin TD. Dak got a little hurried on the throw so the ball was a little up. But the catch should've been made without question. Frankly I think it was an issue of thinking about scoring before securing the football and Cole lost concentration before securing the football.

In any case, thanks for your realistic POV of being at the game. Helps folks like me who live outside the area get a feel for that sort of thing. Most of the games I attend in person are away games (e.g., going to Niners Boys game in October) and the Boys fans there are absolutely rabid - which I love!?!

Give the crowd something to cheer about and they will. Also, the way the stadium is built drowns out any noise that is made. It's a terrible design relative to getting the stadium loud. It's very rare here. Texas Stadium could get deafening. I do not enjoy watching games in this stadium. Too much going on and too spread out.
Texas Stadium was like a library a lot as well, so gotta disagree there. Maybe in playoff games in the glory days it got deafening. But that place could be a tomb on noon kickoffs in the first quarter...folks probly nursing hangovers
Yesterday didn't sound that bad on TV, sounded like a typical Cowboy game at ATT or Texas Stadium

So, uh, this surprises you? It is probably the same imbeciles that chant his name at camp and throw their panties at him for an autograph.

I appreciate the write up but you absolve Zeke for running into walls whereas apparently His backup did not, than savage the Qb even though it looked like there was little separation from his wr's? Ok.

Never have really liked Jerry's 3 ring circus......too many distractions and not just the crowd but even the players are not focused. Type of entertainment that would make Barnum & Bailey take note. At least he is making loads of cash, right.

thats the scary part. We will end up with les miles or something. I don't think stephen would ever fire garrett that is why I usually pay no attention to that stuff because I just don't see it as a real thing.

A few more games where dez is not involved could change that but really I don't see Stephen ever doing that.

I agree, even if they decided to get rid of Garrett, can we have any confidence that they will hire the best person for the job and give him the power, freedom and control to do it? Even if they decided to break trend in this regard, how do we have confidence in them to find the best coach available?

its so discouraging......

Couldn't disagree more. Was at the game and was very impressed with the crowd noise from my spot.

There were tons of Giants fans though. Unacceptable.

While most of us old-timers have seen much worse, we also know football well enough to expect a smarter and more creative game plan, with best utilization of available resources, and creation of the most favorable matchups. The frequent absence of Dez without open alternatives and the failure to exploit the defenses' weaknesses in scheme or personnel is an ongoing coaching deficiency. It would seem that Linehan was brought in to solve that problem, but without Tony it looks like we'll be relegated to simple and conservative.

It was anything but conservative throwing the ball 26x compared to running 8 to finish the game
