On @1053thefan Stephen Jones says he thought the #Cowboys did a good job grinding it out and sticking to their guns and running the ball.
the #Cowboys showed great confidence in their system yesterday despite the difficulties Baltimore gave.
there's still boxes left for Dak Prescott to check: 1. Get to the playoffs. 2. Win a playoff game.
Lance Dunbar is the #Cowboys go-to RB in the two-minute drill.
predicts Lance Dunbar will get better in the two-minute drills as the season goes on.
he was not concerned with Dak Prescott's play in the second quarter.
you got to give players the opportunity to work through difficulties during games, like Dak Sunday.
the great thing about Dak Prescott is when he hits bumps, he irons them out as the game goes.
he doesn't see Jaylon Smith practicing even when they activate him.
James Hanna will not be activated off of NFI.
Darren McFadden will be activated off of NFI and return to practice.
"Jaylon's routine won't change." Stephen Jones says they're just activating DMC/Jaylon off of NFI to keep playing alive just in case.
they have been pleased by the play by Anthony Brown. "It just doesn't seem too big for him."
Joe Looney reports eligible a lot, but he's really out there to run block.
he would love to see Tyron Smith catch a touchdown pass.
he would love to see Doug Free catch a touchdown pass because he's been here the longest.
it looks like Kirk Cousins is playing at a high level with playmaking receivers.

"We'll probably activate them both" - Stephen Jones on McFadden and Jaylon Smith. Adds nothing changed with Jaylon. Just hoping.

there is no question the #Cowboys have serious work ahead of them in the NFC East.

Interesting.

Smith has to be far enough along that they think there's still hope even though he won't practice to start.

Is there some sort of benefit (roster, cap) to not IRing him at this point other than the hope that maybe he can play in the playoffs?

It does not cause them anything until 3 weeks from now.
at which point it is roster spot or IR

What has Dunbar done to warrant being the "go to" guy in the 2 minute drill? Zeke is better at absolutely everything and is a proven threat to take it to the house. I get spelling Zeke with Morris during the game but with the game on the line Dunbar should not be in the game.

what is up with Hanna's knee?? wonder if he could be headed to the dreaded microfracture surgery.

Don't take it too literally.

I actually think it was more of a comment on Mcfadden. Essentially it says Zeke is the starter, Morris is the backup and Dunbar is the 2 minute guy, so McFadden is the odd man out even if he is activated.

Interesting. I wonder if his fantasy involves having either player line up in the backfield initially? They would be required to tell the referee they're an eligible receiver before the play. I guess Chaz Green would be substituted for either player at left or right tackle..? Then again... they could declare as an eligible receiver and line up on either end of the formation OR in the slot..? Crazy stuff.

Ref: "Number 77 is reporting as eligible receiver" or "Number 68 is reporting as eligible receiver." Then everyone sees Dez Bryant whipping a towel around his head as Smith lines up wide outside Beasley. Or Prescott taking a peek at Free lined up next to Green in an unbalanced formation. Crazy stuff. :p

I would submit that lance is also a threat and it is just a way limit Zekes touches. I can't imagine that the 2 minute drill at the end of the game will not have Zeke in it.

His football IQ is not even questionable to me anymore. The jury is in. He would not have made my football team this year. What they ask him to do is NOT that complicated. And he has only done it well for like a 3 game stretch while in Dallas. Cannot for the life of me figure out why they refuse to move on from this player.

You guys act like Dunbar isn't stellar in the passing game. He's fast as ****!

my question was more - he's a vet, why does he need to "get better" as a core part of his game all of a sudden?

He was injured for a time. So maybe he's still getting back in the swing of things.

The problem is when teams blitz Dak and you need an RB in there to stonewall a LB running through the A gap with a full head of steam.

Dunbar is too light in the *** for that.

I think McFadden would take Dunbar's snaps. He's a much better in pass protection
