McDonald's Has Made a Huge Announcement That Just May Change Fast Food Forever
The largest restaurant chain in the world is trying to put the 'fast' back in fast food.

Most people realize that fast food isn't the healthiest or best-tasting cuisine.

It is, however, expected to be fast.

Because, you know, that's what it's called.

Many chains like McDonald's have struggled with slower food delivery in recent years, because there are more items on the menu (among other factors). But the world's largest restaurant chain, which serves approximately 68 million customers daily in 119 countries, is trying to change that.

For several months, McDonald's has been testing what's called the "just-for-you experience." In 200 U.S. restaurants (and more than 2,000 across the globe), customers are able to order directly from a self-serve kiosk, after which an employee brings the meal directly to the table.

On Thursday, McDonald's announced that it would expand the service to all 14,000 of its American restaurants.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

McDonald's chief executive Steve Easterbrook, speaking at a McDonald's in New York's Tribeca neighborhood on Thursday, said the company has long expected customers to adapt to its business model of ordering at the counter and then waiting to collect their own food. Now, he said, "we're adapting our business around customers."

The Journal revealed that "test runs at more than 500 restaurants ... showed an increase in foot traffic and contributed to a mid-single-digit percentage increase in restaurant sales, lifting the $5 to $6 average check by $1, on average." Customer satisfaction scores also increased, "because families, in particular, appreciate having their food brought to them." (The company also announced the rollout of a new mobile order-and-pay app, which would allow customers to order and pay for food from their smartphones.)

The kiosk thing is sweet, but Ive been to random Taco Bells and other fast food that sometimes bring the food to our table.....not to mention places like Whataburger that always bring your food to you.....

Newsflash........No matter the method of delivery or how timely it is, your food stinks and has for many years now. You as well as Taco Bell/KFC/Pizza Hut and all other associated YUM food brands can up and vanish like a fart in the wind for all I care.

McDonald's Has Made a Huge Announcement That Just May Change Fast Food Forever - "For the 1st time, we will serve animal meat in our hamburgers!"

People love to hate on Mcdonalds but they serve tasty, consistent meals every day.

I eat there maybe 3-4 times a year, but it's very very rare that I'm disappointed by a McD's meal, you always know what you're going to get.

Now I wouldn't say that. The "surprise" meat is always a treat. lol.

I always spoil myself (and my son) with fast food about once or twice a month. Don't know what was wrong with McDonalds before (as per my experiences), but this will be interesting to say the least.

Agreed.

We'll do McD's burgers/fries maybe once every 2-3 months (usually drink water).

Not only is the food decent (I'd rate the fries as very good) it's not a huge number of calories.

And the taste never changes.

A dozen wings will gain you about 1,200 calories and then you add the blue cheese/ranch dressing and that spikes it up even more.

A 16" pizza will rack up 4,000 calories on its own.

And then add a beer (150 calories a glass) and you're talking a pretty hefty meal.

Agreed. Unhealthy garbage served up in mini portions and outrageous prices. It always amazes me these crooks stay in business...l suppose it helps that they pay their workers nothing. They are a blight on the landscpe.

I thought you meant this......a Big Mac and Quarter Pounder had a baby

If only they looked like that................EVER.

Never in my life have I seen cheese melted on any of their burgers.

Give me Five Guys or Smash burger any day of the week.

They got order screens at Sheetz (not sure if people know of sheetz but it is big in this area as a gas station that has made to order food that is decent). You do it all on the touch screen. Print out the receipt, take it to the register and pay, wait for them to call your number. You can watch them make the food if you want. Pretty good service and it is quick.
Only problem is if you go through the drive thru...not as easy with the touch screen out of your car window and they are slower in getting to the register in the drive thru.

Mini portions and outrageous prices........I don't think you are talking about fast food places

And fast food jobs are starter jobs that teach young people how to work and keep a job...they are low pay because they are low skill........replacing them with kiosks is more of a threat than their wage
