How Many QB's In This League Get Away From Kerrigan Here?

On this play on Dallas' first drive of the game on Thanksgiving Day, Washington Commanders OLBer Ryan Kerrigan comes in unblocked. He's got the angle. He's got a sure sack here on about 25-28 of the QB's in this league.

He doesn't over pursue or simply miss the angle. He's in perfect position. On how many QB's is this a sack or a ball being thrown away?



Watch Dak simply MOVE so fast Kerrigan simply can't catch him. He flails his arms. He's always just out of arms length as Dak moves around him and runs up the field.

Not only is Dak sprinting to avoid a Pro Bowl pass rusher here, he's keeping his eyes downfield looking for a receiver instead of just looking for a spot to run over the sideline or throwing the ball away.

Kerrigan watches in disbelief as Dak finds Cole Beasley for the 1st down.

How many QB's in this league are even capable of pulling off this play? 3? 4? Brady wouldn't. Either Manning? Nope. Russell Wilson could. Maybe Bridgewater and Tyrod Taylor on a great day. But the number is likely less than 5.

This is the kind of play that shows you a guy is special. It looks like a sure sack and a negative play and yet somehow he turns it into a 1st down conversion.

I think you are overestimating Romo's mobility at this point in his career. I think he probably makes the smart play and just takes the sack, but who knows.

Dalton? I doubt that. Kap, yes. Luck? I really haven't seen him do this kind of thing, but I admit I haven't watched that many Colt games. Same with Mariota, haven't watched enough Titans.

Rodgers can dance back there with the best of them, but I'm not sure he could pull it off now. RGIII from 2013 could've done it, but not now.

Romo is one of the best I've ever seen at avoiding oncoming rushers. He's amazing at it.

Ask 2014 JJ Watt about that 3 year timeline. However, it is valid to question whether he can today. This may be something we never find out.
