On the surface, there’s a clear divide between the willingness of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to entertain the possibility of a quarterback change and the willingness of Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to do so. But there’s a chance that, at a deeper level, the two men’s comments can be reconciled.

“I don’t have a definition for it, but you’ll know it when you see it,” Jones explained regarding the circumstances for making a switch, before channeling his inner Potter Stewart. “It’s kind of like a definition I heard one time of another issue, trying to define a negative topic. They said, ‘I don’t know how to say it, but it’s just something that when you see it, you know it’s there.’ We’ll see it.”

Garrett hates fueling media controversy. Jerry loves it.

JG will not comment on a QB change until he is ready to implement the change. Dak gets another coupla games before this might become a real possibility.

This sounds like another idea that just hasn't been thought through. You're giving Dak two more games? So what if he stinks it up against a good pass defense like Tampa Bay's but then does reasonably well against a very average Detroit pass defense? Now we're two weeks closer to the playoffs and still don't have a clear answer about who the QB should be. Now what?

Why does John Schneider of Seattle get credit for being the architect of that team, but Jones is dismissed for his acumen as GM?

I imagine at this point Jason feels sort of like I do when I get up in the morning every fourth or fifth morning to find that my old dog couldn't hold it and pooped on the rug again. On the one hand, it's incredibly annoying. On the other, you know the dog can't help it and that it's age and whatever conspiring against him. That fact, however, doesn't help my rug, and it gets really old.

Well there is a lot to your question

1) JS probably doesn't fuel fires and get in rookies heads by making inane comments weekly

2) I'm not sure Jerry is the architect of this vs Stephen. If Jimmy wasn't reigned in I'd care to guess that our oline would have 2 less studs and Johnny Football would be here

3) JS doesn't think he's the coach

The only difference between the two is one is a savvy politician in front of the microphone and the other has incontinence of the mouth.

Their "willingness" or "unwillingness" to go to Romo is pure speculation based on public comments that cannot be relied upon.

Florio is reaching (as usual).

What's Garrett supposed to say?

They're having the same conversations we are. It's just internal. Except for Jerry, who gets out of his cage now and again.
