Dan Bailey is there something going on over 50?

I am surprised about his lack of leg on the long field goals using his normal tempo. I thought nothing about him missing that first one in the Giants game last week and put it off to the weather. Dan clearly has a distance issue as there were pristine conditions last night and the leg did not have the strength with his normal cadence. Fifty yard and beyond kicks are not his friend anymore. Thank goodness his accuracy is still off the charts on those less than 50 yards. His past kicking perfection has made these anomalies show up like a red flag.

The 56 yarder in New York was asking a lot and it was a yard short.

Last night I expected him to make those but he just missed. Luckily it didn't cost us and I think he'll get it squared away.

50+ yard field goals aren't gimmes. Dude has spoiled us. Let's give him a chance to get things straightened out. It was really only one game. I don't count the one in NY that was dead center but hit the crossbar from 55 yards out in the cold.

too much height on the 56 yarder. The ball did not fade back as normal on the 52 and he gave away the hole!

I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with him. He's not infallible. A lot of people apparently thought Williams "gaffe" in the Giants game prevented him from going out there and kicking a 65 yard field goal with 20 yards to spare, so for that group I can see why there would be concern. To the rest of us he's always been an extremely accurate kicker who didn't have great length but has increased his leg strength over time.

Bailey is still among the GOATs in NFL history and I am not one bit concerned.

When he starts missing extra points like so many other kickers around the league I'll be worried.

He did have that back injury earlier in the season. Wonder if that is still lingering to the point of not getting as much power into his kicks.

He's a great clutch kicker with consistent range out to 50 yards. After that he's still real good but he doesn't have the leg some kickers have.

He said that he struck the first ball improperly - looked like a low strike, second one... good contact but pulled. I read that he hadn't missed 2 in a game since his rookie year (2011). Amazing!

Yeah, there is something going on over 50: Those are long FGs.

We are truly spoiled.

Oh brother.

They're 50+ yarders.

Justin Tucker (Everyone's flavor of the year because he's been great on 50+ yarders this year) was 4-10 from 50+ last year and 4 of 9 the year before that.

So just stop with all this hand wringing over 50+ yard field goals.

Yup, instantly I thought he got under the ball way too much. His long kicks usually have a nice arch, but this one peaked way high

The 55-yarder versus NYG would have been tough for anybody to hit. Very cold temperatures and the football will not fly as far.

What they did against Tampa last night was the ball would normally be placed on the 57-yard line. However, that is his career long so they moved the spot up to the 56-yard line. Now he has to launch the ball high to get it over the defenders trying to block the kick. That makes it more difficult to get the ball to the posts because you're launching it higher than normal. He should have just spotted it from 57-yards and kicked it normally.

The 52-yarder had plenty of distance, his foot was angled too far left and he missed it.

I'm not worried about it. I would be more worried about Garrett's conservative nature creeping back in because we should have gone for the first down instead of trying to kick a 56-yarder.
