IIRC, the Cowboys are set to fall to 23rd in spending on defense next year. Heavy money on the offense. Money well spent but that defense could sure use an infusion of serious cash. Prescott could help with that situation. I just want the lad to push the ball down the field a bit more. That's it.

Well Romo's salary alone is a big reason ours is so high on offense. It sounds worse than it actually is.

The Commanders need to win out and have the Packers and Bucs lose a game.
That was a devastating loss for the Commanders on Monday night. Instead of strolling into the playoffs this game got the NYG into the playoffs (NYG can sit starters the rest of the regular season ugh), the Skins will be scrambling again, with plenty of scoreboard watching. Washington now has to win out to have a shot at the postseason. 9-6-1 guarantees nothing. I am not counting the Skins out as both opponents(Bears, NYG) have nothing to play for other than pride.
I stand corrected per New Jersey newspaper.
There would still be a chance for a three-way tie at 10-6 between the Giants, Buccaneers and Lions, at which point three-way tiebreaker rules come into effect, negating the Giants' win over the Lions. The Giants would be the odd team out based on a conference record tiebreaker with Tampa Bay in such a situation.
My Yahoo playoff generator does not agree but I defer to the Jersey paper.

Do not forget NY Giant tears are very tastiest during the holidays.

WHY NOT MONDAY? If the Panthers upset the Commanders on Monday Night Football , that would all but guarantee the Giants a playoff berth. But it would not clinch one. There would still be a chance for a three-way tie at 10-6 between the Giants, Buccaneers and Lions, at which point three-way tiebreaker rules come into effect, negating the Giants' win over the Lions. IF NOT THURSDAY : Losses by two of these three teams - Green Bay, Tampa Bay and Washington - later in the week should secure things for the Giants.

The Giants are playing for the division title and the 1 seed.

Of course they are playing for division title, unfortunately it is entirely dependent upon the Cowboys as to their fortune. Two games with NFC east opponents is on their menu. I expect to see a typical NFC east slugfest with two teams that despise one another on Thursday and if Washington wins this weekend another dose of the same for the Giants in the last week of the season.
