The Ryan Bros. just got 2016'd

There is a God. It brings joy to my heart to see a Ryan get the sack!! Two Ryans on the same day is just about as much happiness as l can take. lol. Couldn't have happened to a better duet!! Hope that ends the Ryans in the NFL.
now you will hear him every week as he talks about the game of the week :lmao:

Yes correct - they needed about five things to go right - all the more reason to show some guts and go for it. To win like that would've meant more to the fan base than cowering in fear. He knew he was the walking dead anyhow. I will never understand that.

I agree. They need to go all out for the victory at that point in the game.

What's funny is Rex can actually coach defense. His brother, not so much!

Why do teams fire coaches with only one meaningless game to go? Pointless and your team ends up scrambling around to ensure enough coaches stick around to prepare for the game. Why no do it after the final game? It's not as if they are going to hire or even interview this week.

There may not be formal interviews this week, but there are definitely phone calls to agents or coaches. Perhaps not active coaches, but guys who are out there.

Really where, LA, Jax
Pretty sure he was joking. After being fired by the Cowboys, Rob Ryan made the comment that he'd be unemployed for 5 minutes before getting another coaching job. It'll take him a little longer than 5 minutes this time around (it took him a bit more than 5 minutes that time, too). His big brother won't get another HC gig any time soon, so his best chance at a job will probably be as a position coach somewhere, IMO.

Thank you- he missed my sarcasm

Nothing worse than a fat guy with long hair.

Posted this in nfl section but afraid it's not getting any looks...

"Can someone please explain to me why these Ryans are overrated and not good coaches? Sorry I haven't really kept up with them and superficially did with Rob when he was with Cowboys so I'd like some explanation. Not wanting to argue just wanting to hear it from someone more versed than I about these cats and their gene pool (buddy). I'm looking for some objectivity if possible but I welcome subjectivity too cause it can be fun."
Rob Ryan fielded one top 10 defense about a decade ago with the Raiders. He had one game with the Browns where he confused Tom Brady, shortly before he came here, and he was way overhyped. To be fair to him here, he had a ton of injuries. Guys like Brady Poppinga were playing ILB in his scheme, so he had to blitz too much and got burned. Either way, he has never been a good coordinator. He coached one of the worst defenses in the league with NO.

Rex has more skins on the wall, but Buffalo was just a horrible situation for him.

In Dallas, Rob Ryan focused on scheming and not on fundamentals. The performance of his defense become very dependent on how he called the game. If he (the coach) had a bad day, then the defense had a bad day.

It is difficult to build a roster by focusing on scheme over fundamentals. When coaches focus on fundamentals, players continue to get better over time and are good players even if put in a different scheme.

When the focus is all about scheme, then the players only progress to the point that they understand the scheme.

I would compare RR to a QB like Jay Cutler that has too much confidence in his ability. Cutler can have a great game on occasion but often throws many INTs.

RR is the complete opposite of Marinelli. With Marinelli the scheme is simple but there is a constant focus on fundamentals and effort. The vast majority of Marinelli's work is done in practice and meeting rooms. Once his players are in the game they are prepared to perform even if Marinelli was not on the sideline.

The father, Buddy Ryan was a better coach than the sons, but he also had some defenses with incredible talent. The 85 Bears and then the early nineties Eagles. The Eagles had Jerome Brown and Reggie White on their DL. Brown is not as well remembered as White because he died in 1992, but he was probably a more dominant player than Reggie White.
