Emmitt: "Go Get Your Ring"

Three things. First, Smith's reflection on his mother's death touches me deeply. I know that pain all too well. That's all I'll say...

Second, this passage:
Funny story: One of our offensive tackles, the late Mark Tuinei, was next to me after the game when we were shaking hands with the 49ers, and he saw Jesse Sapolu, San Francisco’s center and a good friend of his. During the week leading up to the game, Jesse had said that the road to the Super Bowl ran through San Francisco.

When Mark saw Jesse after the game, he reached out, shook Jesse’s hand and said, “Thanks for the directions.”
--is simply greatness in my book. The king of the hill talked smack (although lighthearted talk between friends) and, in turn, got smacked off his mountaintop. Great stuff.

Third, it seems like it's a difficult thing for some people to write or speak about Prescott and Romo without including unnecessary disrespectful comments of some degree about either man. Smith accomplishes it perfectly. Some readers will compare their past comments about the two gentlemen with Smith's and conclude both are similar or the same. In some cases, that self-conclusion is totally inaccurate.

There are fans, media, their peers, etc., who should read Smith's article. There is much that could be learned from his example. Or missed.

Emmitt has impressed me with his HOF speech and now this writing (assuming he did most of the work). I didn't expect much but he's good at evoking emotion.

Also I just want to go ahead and say I really like this Dak guy a great deal.
