Free Agent WR for 2017

In regards to the review:
He can definitely get open. He is good at finding opens spot against zone defenses, getting his feet in bounds on sideline catches and running slants and comebacks. He would likely be good on those Jet Sweeps where the Cowboys have been using Lucky Whitehead.

He needs work on catching contested balls and inaccurately thrown balls. He tends to let DBs steer him out too close to the sidelines on long go routes.

It was somewhat difficult to evaluate him due to the Cleveland QBs being inaccurate and often being late on their throws.

He is not far enough along in his development that I would expect him to get a big contract, but as with most free agents the Cowboys might have to overpay a little to get him. He will likely want to get out of Cleveland.

I think he could be better but cheaper than TWilliams as the #2 outside WR for the Cowboys in 2017.

He's also near universally hated by his former teammates, both collegiately and in the NFL.

His teammate Hawkins said he was the hardest working guy he knows.

Two CBs hate Pryor who is a WR. Shocking...

He has made himself into a legit WR which is not an easy position change. He must be doing something right.

He will not be cheaper than Williams.
 
Unless Williams is crazy expensive I'm in favor of keeping him rather than integrating a different but similar WR into the offense. A real upgrade would likely be to expensive given other needs.

The new guy has all the buzz words down - "#2 wide receiver", "catches with his hands". Based on how some posters talk about wide receivers these days Drew Pearson was a scrub "body catcher". Every WR has to be built like Dez Bryant and Julio Jones, who are the exceptions rather than the norms. Then I look at the Patriots and try to figure out how they can possibly win without receivers like that. :muttley:

The Cowboys have bigger needs than going shopping for a wide receiver.
 
Yes after addressing the defense, I'm all about getting some WR help/upgrades
 
I'd rather sign Ted Ginn. I don't get the Garçon interest. An older, less dynamic version of Dez? Why? Dez, Ginn, Beasley, Ross, one of the two lucky replacements. I'd call that an upgrade
 
I know this is a long shot but how about contacting Calvin Johnson about making a comeback? Megatron knows Linehan's offense, seems like a great locker room guy as well. He is only 31, not old by receiver age. Dez, Megatron, Bease and Wit? WOW...

IIRC, he was still under contract when he retired. The Lions would own his rights.
