What was your favorite job? Mine was without a doubt being a prep cook/ line cook at an assisted living facility. Met some really wise people and it made me happy to do whatever I could to make them happy. I just recently had a commercial fishing job opportunity open up, I want it, but that leaves my mom alone in this house with limphoma, I'm just trying to decide. Anyway, yeah I'd be interested in what you all like to do.

As some of you know, I am a football coach, but I have done a lot of other things. I've been a janitor, worked at a bakery, sold radio equipment, was a bouncer at south padre island, i even owned and operated a real estate investment company in my spare time when i was a junior high coach. That company became very profitable in the lat 90s, so much so, that I was making 4 times more money with my part time job than I was with my full time job. I almost quit coaching to expand the company, but I just couldn't get myself to do it. I liquidated my assets and became a head football coach. Best thing I ever did, I'm proud of all the kids I've been able to help, the communities that I've brought pride to with winning programs. As I get closer and closer to retirement, I feel nostalgic and wonder how I will go on without the great sport of football being part of my life for 90 hours a week every fall.

That's pretty darn cool of you, I bet you really helped some kids a lot. Two thumbs up and mad respect for you.
 
Rescuing sea lions off the SoCal coast for a SeaWorld annex. It didnt pay much but so satisfying.

That's awesome, I'm currently working on my biology degree, really interested in ecology. It's amazing how much we all depend on each other, human or otherwise.

Oddly enough, my favorite job was one I worked back when I was 20, stupid, and financially and economically naive. I was a Domino's pizza delivery guy. Yep. I was that nut driving like a bat outta Hades in that small Chevrolet T-1000 (do they even make that car anymore?) with the huge freaking ugly not-very-aerodynamic sign strapped on top. It's nothing like driving all over town without a care in the world, delivering cardboard food that customers actually wanted and TIPPED for, kicking back between deliveries and stuffing myself with that same cardboard BUT free food. It was only a couple of months but I loved the heck out of that job. Good times...
 
When I'm on the right project, I actually really like my career job as a geoscientist.

But while I was in college, my summer job for 3 years was as an ocean lifeguard on an island off the coast of North Carolina.
Those were some pretty amazing summers!

That was my first job at 16, not including summer work at my dad's store. They needed driver's so bad they gave away a free pizza to apply. Delivery was still new to the suburbs. Every delivery offered the potential for a big tip that could make my night. It was a bit like a gameshow. Delivery ran my '80 Corolla into the dirt and all the money I earned went to the repair. Essentially worked for free. Lesson learned. :p

Have to say, I've never touched a Domino's pizza since. Not sure if it was all the free pizza or seeing the behind the scenes.

Yeah the wear and tear on a vehicle was the downside for me. That was one reason's why I quit the job. That... and a new supervisor I couldn't stand...
 
I hated it at the time, but looking back the only job I truly miss was being a security guard at a brand new hospital (back in 2005). Got access to just about anywhere I wanted to go while "patrolling"...spent alot of time on the roof and on a few of the levels that hadnt been completed yet, the old hospital connected to the new with a "sky bridge"...and riding around in our lil golf cart everywhere lol, ah what a moron I was for thinking that was too boring of a job lol.....My first job was a Taco bell, dont miss the work part, but literally all of us who worked there hung out outside of work, even our shift managers...after midnight when the store was closed (back in 2002 when they didnt all stay open 24/7 lol) alot of times we'd all go down there to get drinks and food when we had the munchies, I used to make Grilled stuft burritos with double everything and theyd be 3x fatter than chipotle burritos lmao, good times....

Current job is probably my favorite so far.
 
HEALTH/HYGIENE INSPECTOR (not an official title by any means)

As a medic (and if you are part of the clergy in the military) you got a special id, You had your regular military ID and another one.

Oh the stories I could tell about using that ID in the wee hours of the morning in a Korean Village after being drunk as a skunk and wanting to start
some chaos and trouble.

But this is a family friendly site and military tales and language are not safe for work lol.
 
I once had a job writing tax legislation. Riveting stuff.

Like my current job - delivering a program of new public buildings. Very rewarding seeing a project go from an idea to a completed building.
 
I'd say the best and easiest gig was driving taxi at nite in this college town,I'd clear $500-550 doing 4, 12 hour shifts(and the drunk 19 y.o.girls were always pretty), but grew up working in the oilfield ,had a business setting/transporting manufacted homes, was a service technician for a public utility( lol, housewives would come to the door in nightgowns and some would have porn movies on the t.v. screen,and they were the ones who called the office,lol,,,true!) Now I just run dump truck for a construction outfit and a asphalt co.,,, Part time, as it's hard to bounce between two different outfits

Oh wow, I've been there, I've been a delivery driver for the best two places to get pizza where I live, also delivered for Quiznos and JimmyJohns(never ever work there unless you read the fine print trust me on that any kids that may be thinking about it). I did have some fun times delivering food though, I heard several times " I thought you got lost"! Nah i just got a really good tip.
