Peppers is a big no for me. Guy is just not a playmaker, never has been and I don't see why that will change once he gets to the NFL. We've got enough guys who can jump like Michael Jordan but act like the football is kryptonite when it comes their direction.

Charles Harris with some disappointing workout numbers. He's gonna have to rebound during his pro day just to have a chance at the 1st round now IMO

He had some good and bad at the combine.....however, his game tape pretty much ensures him of a 1st round grade and pick

Really like what I saw in DE Solomon Thomas. Mayock just said he may got top 10 so not really likely at 28. Guy could really help our line though.

I wont be mad with the Peppers pick but i dont see a great cover guy,he will limit YAC and is a OK tackler but see a game changer,we could do so much better at 28.

NFL Draft Rumor Mill

Cowboys Plan Defensive Draft, Adoree' Jackson In Play at 28
Updated March 5, 2017
By Charlie Campbell. Follow Charlie on Twitter @draftcampbell.

What a difference a year makes. A year ago at the NFL Scouting Combine, the Cowboys had the fourth-overall pick with a number of issues to address for the future of the franchise. Dallas' front office hit a home run in the 2016 NFL Draft by landing young franchise quarterback Dak Prescott in the fourth round after taking star running back Ezekiel Elliott in the opening frame. Playing behind the best offensive line in the NFL, Dallas' young duo led them to the top-seeded team in the NFC before falling in an epic playoff game against the Packers. In speaking with members of the Cowboys scouting staff, Dallas is inclined to have more of a defensive draft in 2017.

The Cowboys could look to upgrade a few places on their defense. Last year, Dallas was close to drafting cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and corner remains a position that they look to address. Sources have said they have Adoree' Jackson graded in the first round, and he could be in play for Dallas. There were concerns about Jackson's height, but he measured in at 5-foot-10, 186 pounds, and those numbers are similar to former Chargers first-round pick Jason Verrett. Dallas likes Jackson's cover skills and ability to prevent separation. Jackson is fifth in our NFL Draft Cornerback Prospect Rankings.

Dallas also wants to upgrade its pass rush, and there are a number of edge rushers who could interest them in the first round. As Jerry Jones stated, the Cowboys need a "war daddy" to lead their pass rush, so they could easily go with a defensive end.

They also mention the new coach of Broncos wanting to go after Romo.

Think this is same Jackson that was toast playing against John Ross.

I like Walter Football, they can tell you who has visited with what team and so on.

But good lord they are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to having a good take on the NFL or what teams do.

Their mocks and rankings are completely awful.

It looks to me that they have a few decent contacts and those contacts like throwing out the extreme to form a barometer.

Just got this text from an actual scout at the combine.

"3 safeties go top ten. Hooker, Adams, Peppers. Best defensive class we've ever scouted. Need more picks."
Dumb.

Top ten safeties mean you bust up what teams pay safeties in terms of contracts.

Since it is slotted, you will pay a top 10 S what you might pay a top 10 QB, left tackle or edge rusher.

When it comes down to money and how they have contract values controlled in the NFL, forget it.

They might be three best talented. But they are not going top ten.

Just because a scout thinks so does not mean an executive agrees when it comes down to making the choice.

Funny how his stock is getting attacked.

Earlier in the week there were "reports" from Walter Football that he was dropping.

When dropping is real, you usually don't hear about it. Jon Allen will not get jumped on very hard for his Combine and his medicals, but I am guessing he drops down when it is all said and done.

I don't think he is the next Aaron Donald. But he will be good if he can be used right. That is the bad part about him.

He is not an edge, he is not a real interior penetrator. Hard but talented player to figure out. He also may have maxed out if you believe what some say.

Just now looking at the 3 cone times. Probably the most important timed drill along with 10 yard split...and here's some random rumblings based on that and everything I saw today.

some really disappointing times for the top guys. Harris, McKinley, and Lawson all put up bad times in 3 cone. Sign of hip stiffness, which is what I've been saying about Harris and Takk. Neither of them flattens out and turns the corner nearly as consistently as they should for speed rushers. Starting to really sour from that group in the 1st.

Barnett shows the ability to flatten and turn the corner consistently and it showed with his 3 cone time.

Really surprised Willis was so dominant in 3 cone too. His tape doesn't say elite athlete. Will be interesting too see how high he goes. Someone will think they can get more out of him then he showed in college.

I'd be very Ok with Taco at 28.

Rivers continues to look better and better. Going to have to dive into his tape some more but he has a lot to offer.

Solomon Thomas is a freak. I'd take him over Allen.

Hendrickson and Basham earned themselves a lot of $ today. Both check pretty much every box you look for in a DE. Maybe not destined to be elite 15+ sack artists, but I can see both having long productive careers.

Can even the Browns screw up this draft?
I would literally kill someone I am emotionally attached to in order to get the kind of picks they have stockpiled.

But to answer your question, yes, they probably can.

Having a Moneyball concept is fine, but last year's draft was not a home run and they had a ton of picks then too.

I got to agree here, not blown away from the Combine performance by some of the top guys in this seemingly great Class.Cowboys use all metrics to rank the players but some of those 3 cone times are baffling to me and doesnt match the tape and games i have seen.

I have say one thing.

And I hope the Almighty above is listening.

After seeing that commercial for the draft, advertising Philadelphia, and playing the Rocky theme for umpteenth time this weekend, I have just one single wish.

I want a driving rainstorm to cascade down on the first open air draft in NFL history.

Maybe some hail too.

Nevermind. A severe thunderstorm. Lots of flying debris.

Wait a second. An F5 Tornado.

Alright, I am being honest now. A big fat wave like in Deep Impact.
