that is because they refuse to spend that much on FAs.
the RTs that have been signed are in the 5M-10M range.
they are trying to get someone in the 2M-4M range.
basically they want to get slightly below average veterans as backup.
and draft eventual starters.
may be draft of 2016 got to their head.

look at Remmers - who is 2nd tier:
30M 5 years
http://www.1500espn.com/vikings-2/2017/03/vikings-sign-rt-remmers-30-million-deal/

Its a weak OT class, and really OL in general....we got alot of work to do to get to 13-3 again.

We are refusing to spend cause we see what other teams are doing with their cap. Don't have a problem with that, but we should've did alot more planning for RT if we actually knew Free was retiring.

Chaz, wake up and take some Logan juice. We need Wolverine, not Mr. Glass.

you will have a problem with it if Free or whoever replaces him gets Dak hurt.

Doesn't mean he isn't good either.

No, it doesn't. I just means team isn't prepared for if he's not.

Green can't stay healthy and Cleary is a journeyman. Neither of those should exactly make us comfortable that we've got a starting-caliber tackle.

I figure they are banking on Dak being able to move out the way......kinda like Romo, but we see how that turned out.

Not real happy right now with the FO, even if they knew about Free, they could've planned for that and free agency better.

Seems like we are starting over, and from 13-3, thats hard to think about. Just so many holes they are trying to fill with some dude.

Only my opinion, Free got tired of the criticism, and basically threw his finger up at us.

We only needed him for one more year, and he didn't care.

well the offense is still going to be very very very good.
we are just exposing our franchise young QB to unnecessary risk.

i am sure we can fill the holes that were created.

however, we are counting on jaylon, tapper to be our improvement.
there is no way they know what to expect from the draft.
we would have to count on a high draft pick to replace Mo/Carr - using the cb from phila as a safety net.
heath is a pretty good bet to replace wilcox and church.
but then we lost the experienced depth behind the FS/SS starters.

they are being very cute leveraging Mcclay's strength.
i get it.
but they have more cap available and could have put together a lot better team.
and it would not have jeopardized the future either.
that was what made me so $%#$%^%

it is not starting over.
it is not improving as much as we can.
use the draft to patch holes.
theoretically, the high draft picks would get experience in the regular season and be play a bigger role in the playoffs.

we did not need Free.
Remmers was signed to 5 years and 30M total.
6MM AAV but his year 1 cap hit would be 4M or less.
that is less than both Free's 5M base.
the FO is banking the savings instead of reinvesting it for whatever reason they have.

Aww man, that hurts, we have lost almost half of great o-line. I hope Collins is all he's cracked up to be and we can find someone to compete with Green, I like his talent but I just don't trust him...

I would be shocked if they did.

it would be risky to go into the season with glass man and cleary - who only started once for us (though played well).
if so that would mean Cleary would need to be the starter and Glass man to be swing - so he does not play too much (and become unavailable).
problem is glass man gets injured during practices also...

as you are mentioned, how many holes do they expect to fill with draft.
do they really expect to repeat the success with the 2016 draft in 2017?
they may have drank too much of their own coolaid...

lol at that AL OL. Warmack flopped nicely too.

Coveting Fluker is amusing. There is a reason why people are describing his signing as an opportunity to reset his career. He struggles with his reads and is slow. Makes Parnell look like Edward Witten.
