I was looked back on some measurables and I was reminded that Tapper is a freak

Nfl.com's comparison are the WOAT. They hold zero weight. They compared Jason Williams (yeah, from the infamous special teams draft) to James Harrison. Saw several terrible ones from this year's class.

Yeah...

I was out on those comps when they listed Dan Bailey as the next "right-footed Steve Young"

Tapper

Hands: 11-1/2"
Arm: 34-3/8"
Forty: 4.59

For reference, Tyron Smith's hand size is 11".

Well done. I have to hand it to you. (pun intended)

I looked back on that and saw a player who, despite those traits - things every damn team saw - Wasa 4th round pick because of mediocre play on the field

MO looked medicore In his highlight videos and went first round. Unfortunately it was to dallas.

He has amazing potential.

Who was he chasing down the field in that one highlight film? Amari Cooper?

1. Love the potential. The guy's highlight vid shows an impressive array of pass rush moves and his backside pursuit was solid. Excited to see what he becomes.

2. Not holding my breath though. I am reminded of the athletic potential of Matt Johnson-- but the guy could never stay on the field. I refuse to get enamored with a player until he can be consistent on the field.

Lots of mashed potatoes on the wall when it comes to the D right now. Let's see what sticks.

I disagree. Tapper's play on the field was anything but mediocre. His senior wasn't nearly as good as his earlier years because he was played out of position at OU. If he stays healthy, I think he will be a force to be reckoned with; ie., the player the opposing offense has to account for on every play. He's that good, in my opinion.

I'm excited to see what he can do. Everyone is talking about Jaylon and forgetting about Tapper. Hopefully his back holds up.

Jeez...how many 6'2 or 6'3 people have 34.5 inch arms?

Bob Stoops should be arrested for not playing him at OLB when they switched to a 3-4

To be honest, the way Tapper was used is how the Stoops brothers almost always use their defensive linemen. They want them to occupy blockers and free up the linebackers to make the plays. I'm an OU fan, as you can see, but I wish they would change that game plan up a bit. We've had some good players before that were, like Tapper, played out of position because of their tendency to do that.

Yea and despite that, he had 7 sacks as a senior, not sure why people are acting like OU got nothing out of him

What is his current condition? Is he ready to go and solid, or is it "see how his back holds up", or ...

The Cowboys staff has been singing his praises and seems optimistic. I still hope his back holds up well, though. They're tricky. ;)

I'm excited to see him get out there and show us why we made a great choice.

I think you will see Tapper carving out a niche this year rushing from the 9 gap when we put that alignment on the field
