Induced Labor? Really?

I haven't had to worry about childbirth for a long time but I never thought it would ne something to be "out of the loop" about.

Apparently, medical technology allows for doctors to use medication that induces labor. Women are now given appointments to have their babies.

I'm getting old and old people always complain about how the world has changed for the worse, so far be for me to screw with tradition.

Now we have doctors that don't want something as insignificant as a birth to mess up their morning golf game or evening at the playhouse.

And what does it say about our society that the very first experience in life is forcible eviction? I mean, it's like a county sherrif knocking on the ****** door.....

"Okay, everyone out! Right now!. I'll let you take one pound of placenta with you but everything else stays!"

What os next?

Isnt this generally only used when a pregnancy has gone a couple of weeks beyond due date or if there is a medical condition whereby they want to plan the birth so the necessary medical support is there?

Daks labor was induced last year. Worked out pretty well. Lol

Yes, typically, labor is only induced if the Mother has gone passed her due date or if there are medical reasons that make it a necessity.

That's what I thought. I thought they only induce labor if there was an important medical reason to do so.

Correct.

The most common usage of oxytocin for promotion of uterine contractions is for ruptured membranes without labor onset. In those fairly common cases, the clock is ticking on potential fetal infection, so the process needs to be assisted.

This has been utilized since the 50's, so no news here.

I want to believe! But alas, this is not the root of the conspiracy. So yes, I will just have to be content with making more tinfoil hats, for the the moment...........

BTW, pm, your "selected to die" scenario is actually quite opposite.

If one wishes to find reasons for the burgeoning cost of healthcare, it's largely due to successful prevention and treatment for major killers like heart attacks, strokes, and cancer.

We don't die so early anymore, and live long enough to get Alzheimer's, further burdening the system.
 
If you had 50 yard line seats to the SB and the Cowboys were playing on your wife's due date, would you ask her to induce labor to make sure you didn't miss the game? HMM....

Just take her to the game and bring a doctor so that the baby can be delivered there while you don't miss a single play of the game. Will make for a great story later on anyway.
