A little over 15 years ago I was coaching an all-star baseball team full of outstanding 10 yr. olds.
During one practice, a very large and beautiful bald eagle was just gliding, forming figure eights just beyond our
practice field. I stopped practice and had the kids turn their attention to the bird.

What followed was 12 kids in awe and near silence aside from the occasional "wow". All eyes on the eagle.
The symbol of our country then chose to land just beyond left-center field (no fence). He sat there for maybe 20 seconds,
possibly sizing up our tiny 2nd baseman as a snack, before launching skyward for one more figure eight and
then slowly flew out of sight.

I've seen many bald eagles before and since that day and I've always paused to give them my attention.
None have been more awesome and picturesque as the eagle on that day at the practice field.
