Randy Gregory may have a chance

I feel this that Jerry Jones might have gotten the ball rolling on medical marijuana in the NFL.

This is good news for Randy Gregory if it goes through.
I strongly agree this is a change the NFL should incorporate into their substance "policy". However, they cannot come to a conclusion on what to do with Zeke 16+ months later, I seriously doubt they'll be able to make any material change here that would benefit Gregory this season.

This will have little to no effect on Gregory. By the time they get around to studying and discussing this and implementing a new policy on this, we will be a couple of years down the road and at that point, Gregory will either be clean and playing or cut from the Cowboys.

By then, Gregory will weigh 160 pounds. LOL

The key features of the 2011 CBA included changes related to health and safety, including a reduction in the number of off-season practices, a prohibition against training camp “two-a days", and a limit on contact practices in both the preseason and regular season. The new CBA also featured increases in player benefits, including retroactive pension increases for retired players and the creation of a neuro-cognitive benefit for players affected by concussions and other similar injuries. Also, the agreement promised an increase up to $1.5 million in salary guarantees for injured players and a new revenue split, offering players between 47 percent and 48.5 percent of all revenue. Changes were also made in contract-related benefits, with an increase in minimum player salaries[19] and salary cap minimums, including the guarantee of a 99% -95% league wide spend and a requirement that each club would have to spend an average of 89% of the salary cap over four-year periods.

A new rookie salary system was implemented by the NFL to limit spending on first-round draft picks, but the savings were reallocated to veteran players. The 2011 CBA had no opt-out clause and a ten-year term set to expire after the 2020 season.

Unless Owners present changes to the CBA which I don't see happening, the current rules in place will continue until 2020 at which point the NFLPA should make this a priority

Unfortunately, I think the Gregory ship has sailed. If Randy had come into the league in the 80s-90s (didn't test for weed), or 5-10 years from now (they'll legalize it), he might be a superstar.

That's the chance Jerry was willing to take though. Can't hit on all the risks you take.

I hope we are not wasting time banking on Gregory's return.

I know I am not. I hope the kid gets his life together but I have given up hope he will ever play football in the NFL. He has had 7 chances and has failed each time, that is more chances than many will ever get. Right now he appears to be out for at least the next 2 years by then that is 2 more drafts and younger talent coming to the NFL

I agree with others that the NFL should end its ban of marijuana. It definitely is not a performance-enhancing drug. If anything, it could hinder performance, so I would hope trainers are cautious about using it in pain management. But base it on science, of course. A team will not gain an unfair competitive edge via pot, so just allow it.
