From Todd Archer:

Starting middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens suffered a tibial plateau fracture in his right knee and will need eight weeks to recover, according to a source. The team feared Saturday he suffered a torn ACL, which would have been season ending.

Dez Bryant had the same injury.

Those were the ones I had in mind also.

Nobody will sign them if cut; although, they do need Durant more now with Hitchens out.

Good point. I'm not risking putting Durant out there. Somebody's linebacker is going to get hurt and he's going to be in demand. And he knows this defense better than anybody we could sign off the street.

He is a vested veteran and not subject to waivers. He has not practiced so other team don't know his health status. I doubt another team would make him an offer for that 1 day that he is off the roster. Any team could have signed him this offseason as a free agent.

It's his decision.

Having said that, they need him if he is healthy enough to play in game 1.

Tibial plateau fractures are no joke. Very, very difficult to come back from. I'm treating a patient with one right now and they are very challenging; I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up missing much more than 8 weeks.

I agree. I think I would risk some of the guys on the fringe like Nzeocha or Neal. A lot of teams will pass on picking up those type of players even if they are good or better than the players they have. The players they have know their system while a waiver acquisition will take weeks to pick it up.

I would not risk putting Neal out there, though This guy is a keeper.

The big end of the bone near the knee.

8 weeks likely implies no screws required to repair.
Exactly how my wife explained it to me. She works in radiology... She even showed me a skeleton (we have one in the house for her reference when she does her continual studies) and exactly where it was.
Pretty cool! Hope he makes a full recovery.

Edit: a fake, plastic skeleton, you hooligans. Don't go thinking weird things. Well do... but not in that direction. You guys just keep on keeping on.

I'm still trying to figure out where you were for a year and now you confess to having skeleton's in your house (not even in the closet).

At least I haven't said I'm in the middle of nowhere, Minnesota... I'm in the middle of nowhere, El Paso!
