If you were Rod, what would you do to get Taco going?

I love Rod, but in my mind Tapper should be in the rotation more than Taco. It could be that they want to limit Tapper's snaps from a physical standpoint. I think Taco should come in toward 4th quarter when Oline starts to wear down. Get those fresh, young legs going and let him use his quicks. We are going to have a DYNAMITE rotation when Moore and Irving gets back!

Problem isTaco is raw as they come,he is not strong enough for the bull rush and the only move he has is the Spin move.We should not expect much from him this year.Moore is coming back for the Cards game and Irving will be back in 3 games and we should be ok.

I'm thinking his best role this year is probably as backup 3T. He could be a Crawford/Hatcher style under tackle in this scheme, which is a lot better than being the fourth or fifth DE in the rotation.

Put some hot sauce on em.

Why would I have to do anything to 'get Taco going?' It is up to Taco to get himself going. 1st Round picks aren't gifted anything and should have to earn it just like every one else. The DL was getting pressure Sunday night. Why does the pressure have to come from Taco when the other players are getting the job done.

About the only thing I would do for Taco is give him a fair shot to earn playing time and try to put him in position to help the team.

He sits at DE unless he is at least #4 in results. He could rotate at DT on passing downs IF they put 4 pass rushers out there.

I'm torn on this subject. On one hand, I think the best way for Taco to improve is to continue giving him 'real time' opportunities to learn what he's capable of doing and fight through the rookie curve that most DL have to overcome. Short- practice, practice, practice

On the other hand.. Unfortunately, part of me believes he needs a redshirt' year much like Tapper (albeit injury related) to polish his craft, get stronger, and wrap his head around Marenilli's scheme.

Taco will be a good player for us. He has the measurables to be a monster, but I'm not sure he has the 'get off' quick twitch that's needed for DE. He reminds me a lot of David Irving's development. I'm hoping the light comes on soon and he starts dominating. Till then, we need to be patient and trust Marinelli's plan.

He's a first round pick and you do what you have to do to get the kid going. First round picks are gold in the NFL. Stick a foot in his arse and make his motor run for starters

Were you one of those people saying we should cut Tapper just a week ago?

One week, more massive overreactions.

If we'd drafted TJ Watt, this thread wouldn't be necessary. I was screaming at my TV when we passed on Watt, and I'll be screaming at my TV every time Taco's on the field. I hope that I'm wrong, but I know I'm not.

Initially, many were screaming for Merriman over some guy named Demarcus Ware. We all know how that drama played out.
