Does Taco remind you of Bobby Carpenter?

you know..

Our #1 pick under Parcells that did a belly flop on the field?

I'm getting the vibe from the organization that they are not that pleased with him.

He's having trouble getting on the field..

and when he's on the field..

He disappears.

Is this another monumental mistake?

Or like Tank..

have to wait 3 years before his new contract comes around?

I really think he should be playing.

All of our rookie #1's have played right away

Byron Jones

The Beard

Tyrone Smith

Zach Martin

Anthony Brown (note not a #1)

This bothers me.

Bobby carpenter? And no, not yet. Granted carpenters' position changed, I still saw him more as a traditional linebacker than a outside linebacker in the 3-4 pass rush.

Defense end, like corner back, is a position that takes a few years to really learn.(not to mention NFL strength training and growing at that age) Now taco is not the fastest guy in the world, but not very many de show much early. Jury is still out.

Bill Parcells sided with family history and college level of dominance...and was wrong with Bobby Carpenter. I rooted for Carpenter for about three seasons, and then was well glad for Grayhound showing up...and they both were gone.

Normally, I'd chuckle to myself when someone gets a players name wrong, in a thread about said player, but considering the point you are making, it actually is fitting. Kind of Ironic in a way.

To some extent, it's apples and oranges. All of the linemen played right away because we were bad upfront, like really bad. Byron Jones played right away because he was versatile enough to play 3 positions, CB, Slot, FS. Anthony Brown played right away, in large part due to injury. While DE was a weakness for us, I do think we have a group of guys that would at least be rotational players on most teams. Lawrence would start on a number of teams with the way he's playing and Crawford would play on several teams as a LDE or 3T, Moore has always had talent, but was a knuckle head. Mayowa and Tapper wouldn't start, but would see snaps. So Taco, who may never been more than a rotational guy himself, is going to take time to earn those practice reps and ultimately game reps.

If he's being compared to Bobby Carpenter.....that means he'll go somewhere else and get a Pick 6 on us.
Again, the script always features Dallas as the goat.....Just like a player that looked like he died on the field two weeks ago killing it against the Dallas D today and Rodgers AGAIN doing his thing against Dallas....Dallas is cursed

I don't see much resemblance, to be honest.

Carpenter I believe benefited from playing next to AJ Hawk. WHO also appeared to benefit playing next to Carpenter as NEITHER of them had production equivalent to their draft position.

Carpenter was timid at the point of attack and physically weak taking on blocks. Taco does not fit that profile at all.

If you are going with the over-emotional, knee jerk, drama queen "HE'S A BUST!" take then sure it does remind me of those takes.
