They save his full salary, but the savings is spread over 2 years.

Which means they only save $8MM next FA period - that's my point.

I might consider cutting him if you had a young stud WR in waiting. We don't.

Redo another contract and push an amount equal to his year two savings forward. Then you get the full amount now and the savings next year offsets the other contract.

Now refers to 2018 in this scenario.

If im Dez, id demand a trade. You arent going to win here Dez, you have talent, run like the wind man. Obviously we are not going to build an offense around him, we arent going to put him in position to win, i dont know why this is even a question. I dont know how his agent is not on someones desk demanding a trade.

Obviously Dallas doesnt want to lose him, but i cant find a reason Dallas would want to keep him.

i honestly doubt that happens. Maybe Cincy. a few teams would take him and try to fleece Dallas. I think Dallas has proven the fool and accept a fleecing anyway. Thats just me.

Dallas does seem to continually get fleeced in almost all trades and moves in the draft...the team doesn't seem to strain the onion.

no which is real sad since we started with Jerry who was one of the best trade guys in the league and has since become the late Al Davis.

Plenty of teams that run slants and crossing routes would be smart to take him..

That's a great point.....I have given up on the guy. But if he was in that type of offense I don't know what he would be.....or even if we had a coach to push him to learn routes. I do know he was lazy at Ok St. Crabtree was winning all the awards at TT and he was always 2nd then in the conference.

Jerrys not cutting Dez, too damn loyal. ........

Mickey on one of the broadcasts in the summer said it's interesting that when re-working contracts...the one contract they've never touched is Dez's contract. The Cowboys have made it more do-able to say goodbye if they choose to do so.

Great point....I forgot about that. Or maybe Stephen is finally figuring out he got us in the mess with all those restructures as well?

I think we ll have a better chance seeing fans finally figure out that the Dallas Cowboys is Jerrys and Stephens playground long before Stephen figures hes messed up, In his world, hes doing everything a ok and father, son and HC are just learning on the job.

This guy charted a sample set of the routes of Cowboys WR in 2016, including Dez. I am not sure how accurate it is, but there doesn't seem to by any real argument he doesn't learn his routes.

Outs and comebacks aren't very successful.

Slants are decent, but the IN routes he's up there in catch rate. And the numbers for crossing are very small. So I would argue that Dez running more IN routes would benefit, because those are his best routes.

The author mentions how good Dez was with go routes after corners took the inside routes, but 2016 he didn't capitalize. I'd simply say that Dak really doesn't throw a great go route yet. This is also confirmed with TWill.

One of the biggest critiques of Prescott is that he can be very inaccurate with his throws. A lot of fans see this as baseless criticism as his completion percentage is a sparkling 67.7% and his quarterback rating is 108.6. However, inaccuracy doesn’t mean that his throws are off like Matt Cassel’s last year.

In Dak’s case, inaccuracy can mean the difference between a good play and a great play. Sometimes his accuracy allows cornerbacks to recover and make plays on the ball resulting in incompletions.

The good news is that Prescott has evolved as a quarterback at such a fast pace this season. Though he does still struggle with his mechanics, he has flashed some really incredible throws, like the 50 yard touchdown to Bryant against Pittsburgh. If he can keep up the ascent, the Cowboys offense could be even more dominant than it is now.

Is he worth what he gets paid?
I’m assuming we are talking NFL worth not real life worth because that’s a different debate entirely.

Let’s look at who is paid similar and then I’ll answee your question.

4. Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas: $14 million
5. Cowboys WR Dez Bryant: $14 million
6. Colts WR TY Hilton: $13 million
7. Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin: $11.5 million
8. Chargers WR Keenan Allen: $11.3 million
9. Buccaneers WR Desean Jackson: $11.2 million
10. Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald: $11 million
10. Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin: $11 million
10. Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders: $11 million

I say absolutely yes. There isn’t a player on this list that I would trade straight up for Dez Bryant.
Maybe you think Doug Baldwin or Desean Jackson is more valuable than a Dez...we disagree.
