How good of a WR is Dez Bryant?

He's a guy who just hasn't put in the work to improve. The coaches aren't idiots. They see him every day. I believe his route running and lack of understanding coverages and hot routes are why he is relegated to running 3 routes.

If this is true, why do teams even try doubling him? There's 31 other teams in the league who try to limit him. Think about it.

If he cant do the things you say, why waste resources on a guy who doesn't understand the fundamentals of football?

They don't try to limit him. Did you watch the game yesterday? Romo pointed out multiple times that they were doubling Beasley and Witten.

I think at this point they realize it was a mistake. They signed him when he had a QB who could work around his limitations and when he was at his physical peak. Dak isn't as good as Romo was when they signed Dez to the big contract. He is physically declining and because he doesn't have the technical prowess to fall back on.

I saw the safety cheat to his side on plenty of plays, especially in the redzone. I think it actually freed up Beasley.

I'm sure this question is in a few threads.I never thought Dez was elite but i always thought Dez was a good #1 WR to have out there. I'm starting to lose any faith i have in Dez.

Maybe i'm late to the party.

Is Dez a very good or good or average WR?
Dez, IMO is an above average #2 WR.......just because he has a ridiculous doesn't elevate him to elite #1 status....he simply takes too many games off for that.

Put Dez on NE or GB, he puts up numbers. He's a level 2 WR that lacks the ability to seperate. Dak is not a guy that can knock a cherry off a cigarette like Tony was. Daks best attributes are all mental. He simply makes good decisions and is a winner. Dez needs a guy to throw him open to be effective.

Nothing wrong with that. There was another 88 for the Cowboys that needed his QB to throw him open and he's in the HoF.

Spot on.

I'm so glad you asked that question because I don't think it has been talked about nearly enough. I saw this thread and my eyes lit up like a Christmas Tree. Thank you so much.

He isn't all that great. Maybe top 50 ish. One trick pony. Way overpaid.

If you want to discuss this more I'll be back to this thread soon. A++ Thread.

It's not by chance.

Beasley and Witten get Dez open. Not vice versa.

Really good.

It's our coaching that fails him

Dak's the man but he won't ever put up the kind of numbers with Dak like he did with Tony because Tony was a next level passer but our coaches do Dez no favors.

Anyone hear Romo say Garrett didn't really believe in schematics? haha.

I heard Romo say that and that's scary considering he was our OC and Playcaller all those years.........ughhh.

He’s really good when he’s used properly. He needs slants, crossing patterns, comebacks and jump balls. Things he can use his physicality with and getting him the ball in space. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been doing much of those things. Williams and him both did that this week and they both looked good doing it so hopefully we see more of it.

OT, but I felt the offensive game plan was about as good as I’ve seen from these coaches this week. KC never looked comfortable, every was involved and they played to their strengths.
