FRISCO, Texas – It’s not an ideal circumstance, but it was an astute observation Jerry Jones made earlier this week.

The Cowboys’ owner/general manager, in speaking about his suspended All-Pro running back, couldn’t help but point out an unintended benefit of Ezekiel Elliott’s absence from the team. Detrimental as the suspension might be to the Cowboys’ performance, it’s something that can only help Dak Prescott’s development as a quarterback.

“It hurt us to miss Zeke, but as far as Dak is concerned, we've got a better player for having gone through this,” Jones said. “I don't recommend it for the Cowboys of course, but we got a better player.”

Frankly, it’s hard to imagine this would be the conversation during the early going of the suspension. When he was without Elliott and Tyron Smith in Atlanta on Nov. 12, Prescott was sacked eight times. His fortunes didn’t immediately improve, either, as he threw five total picks and no touchdowns in two lopsided losses to Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Playing vs. a dangerous opponent at their place is a test to be at your best for sure.

The Raiders lost their last game to KC, so they'll be desperate to finish as a winner.

Dak will be under heat from Kalil Mack and Co. He'll need to get rid of the ball fast.

Oakland is very beatable and that is a big surprise. Haven't lived up to the preseason hype. I have a good feeling about this game.

I'm hoping Dak manages to put his best foot forward for this contest.

He'll be under the national spotlight -- a big chance for him to shine.

Needless to say, it'll be a great feather in Dak's hat if he pulls out this game for a win.

Both teams need this game to stay relevant in the playoff race. It should be intriguing.

The Raiders give up more than a 100 yrds on the ground per game. It would be wise to run as much as possible. Get the early lead.

Test # 754.

You make it sound like he has passed every test put in front of him.

He is the 15th ranked starting quarterback in the league (QB Rating) in a league of 32 teams and only 12 teams make the playoffs... He has already proven to be an anchor on this team.

His touchdown numbers actually look like they've improved this year, but he is completely feasting on poor teams. He has five games with 1 touchdown or less and the season isn't even over yet. He also has 5 games where his touchdown number was equal or less than his interception numbers.

He's had at least 6 poor games in a single season (incomplete). He's lucky that the running game, defense, and special teams carried him against Washington.

Yep! win or loss (just not a blowout unless it's for us), should be a great game....Go Dak and Go COWBOYS!!

I'm not sure how big of a test the 25th ranked secondary in the league provides. The Raiders have just two interceptions on the season as well. The story will be if Dak doesn't play well against that low level of competition.

Still view Dak as more sinned against than sinning due to injuries, suspensions and the albatross that is the coaching staff. But he has to play better.

as long as the coaching staff doesnt bail on him first. "Hey Dak, it hasnt worked before but we are sure after 5 times, throw it to T Will again. Whats the worst that happens. yea yea we know Morris has been running up on them but we need to out smart them, they wont expect us looking for a 5th drop."

And throw to him quickly so it bounces off of his hands like it always does!

Wow, another test.
Every game is a test for Dak, with or without Zeke.

Memo to the Mediots.....it was the DEFENSE more so than missing Zeke that let the team down.....plus coaching, and refusal to make adjustments....
