McMahon must have money to flush down the toilet. The XFL bombed and I don't see any reason why it would do better this time around. I did think they had a few innovations, but not enough to cover for low quality play. I thought it was kind of cool that they let players choose a nick name for the back of their jersey like "He hate me," but then some of the other things were kind of stupid like having a hot tub of hot women on the sidelines. Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with attractive women, but it just seemed stupid for a reporter to go to the sidelines just to talk to some women in a hot tub who have nothing to do with the game.

I wonder if they're going to bring back the Memphis Maniax. That was a funny name for a team.

Jerry Jones should take the Cowboys to the XFL since NFL keeps screwing his team.

I can't tell if you're serious or not. It would be the equivalent of selling the cowboys for straight cash and doing this

raw

I read the article the other day and it is going to be closer to the NFL than the old XFL.
Not if they can't get the right talent. It just shows that others realize the NFL is failing right now. The number of empty seats in the Patriots/Steelers game told the story. The NFL is "screwed"

Confused about the empty seat statement. Thought the Steelers announced a record attendance and they are one of the few teams that count turnstile not tickets sold. I could be wrong on both.

I saw empty seats all over the place but it was right before the half, obviously fans getting up early to go to the bathroom and concessions.....

I didn't but I really don't pay attention. May have been some people hanging out in other areas of the stadium do to the weather.

I'm not surprised he might consider it. With the NFL ratings continuing to fall it probably looks like a good time to outside parties to think about striking.

Will still fail again.

Good luck competing with the $ the NFL has.
Even with all the major/minor crap(depending on your views) going on with the NFL right now

Re-create the XFL, but rename it something else (Not Extreme) and fish all the NFL players over and let the NFL and all their owners go dead broke for being such bleep holes and re-signing Goodell.

Jerry and McMahon have a very close relationship.
VERY.
Jerry and Vince's daughters stay in fairly constant contact.

I'd not be surprised if Jerry spurred this on and actually helped Vince here as part of this larger NFL battle.

Jerry isn't gonna take a loss and just celebrate Christmas.

And it will fail spectacularly, there is not a growing base of fans for ball sports, young millennials and gen z don't care about sports.

Lol

JFL... or JFW

It would be ballsy... but he should create a new league. Get it to a money maker then move the greatest nfl franchise ever... to complete that league.

USFL exceeded expected attendances and TV ratings. It would have been sustainable if some of the owners didnt go on crazy spending sprees to entice big name players from the NFL. The strategy of trying to force a merger with the NFL was always doomed.

The business case for the league revolved around the fact that there are enough football fans who want to watch football all year round to sustain a modest professional league playing a reasonable standard of football.

XFL, NFLE and Arena have proven that going gimmicky to try and appeal to casual football fans is not the way to go. I still believe a no nonsense proper spring football league aimed at committed fans will survive.
