NFL Playoff Picture

I almost guarantee the Falcons will lose this weekend, at least that's one of the games I'm putting my money on and I'm real tempted to take Cincy straight up (that's more on gut feeling than anything plus Deeeetroit is only favored by 4.5 which is also interesting).

IMO Detroit is not a very good football team. They're the beneficiary of an almost laughably cupcake schedule. They would be a near lock to go one and done. I see no reason Cincy can't play them tough at the very least.

No, the Falcons have to lose both games or Dallas is out and the Falcons play earlier in the day on Sunday.

Falcons don't have to lose two games. If Detroit loses one game we need Atlanta, New Orleans, or Carolina to lose two games. If Atlanta wins, then NO has a loss and we would need them to lose the final weekend. So ... no ... we cannot be eliminated before we play our game this week.

Maybe the Bengals will show up and win one for Lewis.

Agreed - highly unlikely. But it's nice to have another option. When you're in the position this team is, you take all the possible avenues you can.

Possible upsets like that do happen every once in a while. A bad team will knock a playoff team out.

There is actually one other way. If both CAR and NO lose their final two games, allowing Atlanta to win the NFC South, we would NOT need Detroit to lose a game. In this scenario, DAL and DET are the two wildcard teams with CAR and NO being eliminated.

CAR schedule - vs. TB, @ ATL
NO schedule - vs. ATL, @ TB

Panthers can loose 2, both divisional games, and the franchise is on sale now, and I think Thomas will serve suspension.

I don't know what to to think of them, I'm on the fence. Overall I really don't think they're as bad as some think mostly because they've handled the teams they should have and have barely lost to some very good teams.

False. If the Falcons win then we can still get in if the Bucs beat the Saints in week 17 and Detroit loses another game.

However it’s fair to say that while we wouldn’t be eliminated with a Falcons win, it makes being eliminated a mere formality.

We could potentially know our fate before we even play this Sunday. There are 3 important early games that, if they go our way, can assure that we'll control our own destiny. If Bengals > Lions, Saints > Falcons and Bucs > Panther on Sunday, we'll just need to win out and be assured the final wild card spot.

...actually I believe, if ATL wins before Dallas plays. Done deal. Need Atl to lose last 2.
I don't think that's accurate. That means the Saints lose. If the Saints lose their next two, and Lions lose one game we're in, as long as we win next two. However, Saints play Tampa in week 17. But it is in Tampa. ;)

The arrogance from our coaching staff from the Atlanta game is hurting us badly.

Maybe we will get lucky somehow but I just don't see it.

Detroit is going to be looking to ramp it up a gear and Cincy and Green Bay will "play their young guys".

The Lions will lose to Cincy.........you heard here first

We can still get in if New Orleans loses the next week again if the Falcons manage to win this sunday. Detroit has to lose.

Dude the Saints the Bucs last game of the season. I'm not counting on that.

I am not saying that I count on this. I was just saying that there is a possibility.

There is but just strength on teams I'll go with Atlanta taking two L''s. If they beat both teams with them benching any players I can't be mad.

The Lions will lose to the Bengals. Because no one expects it to happen. So it will. They will beat GB however.

The 'Coons will lose their next two. On the road to the Saints and then to the Panthers at home. Because this is not 2016 and old habits are hard to break.

The Cowboys blow out Seattle on the energy of Zeke's return.

Then the Cowboys beat the Eagles in overtime on the road to take the 6 spot.

That puts the Cowboys against the Rams in the wildcard round.

Which they promptly get blown out of 38-13. Because these coaches have no idea how to win a playoff game.

One and done.

Again.

The End.
