What if Dak was 8-7 as a rookie?

For as horrible a season everyone is saying Dak is having at the end of it all he still has a chance to lead his team to a winning record at 9-7. On paper that is mediocre, but for a QB with an average head coach and a horrible Defense when Sean Lee isn't in the lineup i'm good with Dak for next season especially if Garrett and Linahan are given their pink slips.

Is not just about his record, the guy is too erratic throwing the football. He's not very good from the pocket, lacks pocket presence, can't anticipate receivers getting open down the field, very poor throwing beyond 15 yards, can't make presnap reads to protect against blitz, etc.

Wouldn't have happened because Romo was healthy and ready to return long before week 16 or 17. Had Prescott looked anywhere remotely close to how he looked during certain stretches this season, and the team remained in contention, the coaches would have pulled him without hesitation.

Dak had it rough this year with the play of the Oline, injuries, WR play, and no zeke. And of course he has the handicap of one of the worst head coaches ever. That being said, he played poorly. Now its his 2nd year so Im not going to kill the guy over it. But in my mind his status has dropped from the lofty perch I had him on last year. He looked like he was going to be elite QB type good. I must say that my confidence in him has wavered.

One of the best things about Dak, however, is his attitude and work ethic. I want to see how he bounces back next year. And the Rush kid also looks promising.

Prescott is 0-5. In those games he has 3 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

He feasts on bad teams. He gets his first and a total of 3 wins against teams that are 7-8. His numbers increase to 7 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

He is 8-2 against teams with losing records.

He has 18 touchdowns to 5 interceptions.

This is put even further into focus when you consider these are the winning teams he beat last year:

11-5 Steelers - Zeke Show
10-6 Packers Aaron Rodgers wasn't fully healthy
9-7 Detroit Lions
8-7 Tampa Bay Buccanneers

In two years he has only beaten 4 teams with winning records. His combined record against teams with winning records is 4-7. Two of his wins come against teams that had less than 10 wins. He is 0-5 against teams with records of 10 wins or better dating back to his rookie record.

The reality is that the Cowboys had an easy schedule and shallow wins overshadowed logic with the benching of Tony Romo. Tony Romo would have gone 16-0 if healthy against the schedule we had last year, it was that easy.

Inaccurate.

Prescott has mostly looked the same as he did last year. The circumstances are what has changed. Tougher schedule, worse health on offense, and Elliott's suspension have forced more of the burden of winning on him. He hasn't been able to deliver, which is as expected based off of his inability to dictate to defenses last year.

this is funny some people swear by stats, yet cant go by the stats of his season. than they want us to blame dak because the same offensenive coach who they swore last year we were going to lose is not as impressive as they thought, keeps his own qb out of his strengths, has a vanilla offense and keeps forcing it to a WR yet ignores the others who do step up in his presence. Great post, I Love my Cowboys but the fans are by far the worst hypocrites in the league. They are the same ppl who complained about Romo now he's the best q.b. ever. We need a change but that change must come from the coordinators.

How was Romo just special if he couldn't sniff the field his second season? Seems by that standard it would be Prescott that is special by being the NFL offensive player of the year his rookie season.

I'm convinced we really need to make a play for any one of the top 4 listed qb's coming out this year with our #1 pick. I will take any rookie that can at least throw the ball down the field with conviction, I'll take those rookie interceptions as well.
