Is defense gonna win a championship this year?
Get them, then you still need a stud 3T. Or something else.Need lbers badly
I’m not arguing but you just said the defense needs an elite a WLB, 3DT & DE...., pretty sure Lee is an all pro, Lawrence was .5 sacks from sack leader this year & Irving our 3dt had 7 sacks in 8 games. I know they all need to play & come together but just saying we actually have really good talent at the exact positons you said we need really good talent atI can truly appreciate the spirit of this thread.
It is pure. And good.
But let's get real here.
Who thinks we will win a title with Marinelli and his antiquated scheme?
I mean, seriously.
It is a bit pointless to talk about tweaking personnel when the core issue is the scheme.
Marinelli coaches his butt off. I have never denied that.
But that kind of defense has never won without elite playmakers, like a Sapp, Lynch or Derrick Brooks.
It just hasn't. Yet it has stuck around for 20 years, thanks to a couple of decent Chicago seasons.
First and foremost I thought that Dallas made significant improvements on the defense. It was gutsy to let Mo, Carr, Church and Wilcox walk. That is as drastic as change can be. It worked out for Dallas as I think that went from around 17th ranked to 8th this past season. A+ to the FO staff.
The biggest order for biggest is the team signing Hitchens and D-Law. Decide what to do with Gregory and Tapper as well. Release or keep? Will Taco be a force?
I like where the defense ended up at but Dallas can’t rest on their laurels. They have to be active with Free Agent signings (not bust the cap), the draft, and accessing where they truly are with the Roster.
Dallas has to build for the nickel. The team stays in the nickel for the majority of the game. I think it is around 65-75% of the time. The adage defense wins championships still holds true. I think if the Boys secure Lawrence and Hitchens They need another “War Daddy” on the opposite side of the line. Is that Taco, Tapper or Gregory? They also need to address the DT spot. Dallas uses a D-line rotation and they can not have a drop-off.Although I like Heath, I don’t think he was an improvement over Church and the team has to draft a SS with a high pick that can start day one. I think Heath fills a great role in the nickel, safety back-up and special teamer. Dallas also has to spend on the DT spot. Within the first 3 rounds I want the team to draft a SS, DE and DT. (Maybe even OT) How can the team keep Lee on the field more?
The defense has to be solid in the middle on each level. DT, Mike and safety.
In the later rounds and un-drafted they have to find a few DBs and LBs. The team has to assemble an elite, young and fast defense. Go Dallas!!!
Resign DLaw and draft a war daddy DT
Resign Hitch and draft a LB high
Sign Thomas, move Jones to CB
Those 3 moves alone make the defense a ton better.

I'm saying what some NFL scouts are saying not what some draft boards say. Miller will go in the first round and possibly the number 1 receiver picked.i wont be surprised at all if he shoots up idk about first round but early 2nd i could absolutely see, I’m just going off of current projections on a couple of draft boards & picked the guy I would prefer. Like I said, one of those 9 will be there, i just want one of them with our 3rd pick

I agree with you. The earliest I see is Chicago (at 8 I think) if they pass on Ridley...... Which word is, he isn't the clear number 1 rank receiver.I think Miller goes in the mid-teens, early 20's at worst. He very well could be there at #19.

I'm very excited to see combine to see how these rankings really start to form
What scouts are you hearing this from? Brugler has him 4, Miller doesnt have him in the top 50, Jeremiah & Crabbs have him rated in rnd 2/3. So I’m not sure where you get this unless your connected with actual scouts which if you are, more power to you. You’d be mich better connected than II'm saying what some NFL scouts are saying not what some draft boards say. Miller will go in the first round and possibly the number 1 receiver picked.
Welcome to the zoneWe need a legit DT that can shut down the run game and we need a true strong safety.

Welcome to the zone brotherHonestly I expected rod to get canned after his defense gave up two hundred yards rushing to the eagles and over four hundred yards passing to the chargers in November.no I don' t think the cowboys can win a super bowl or even succeed in the playoffs so long as rod is DC.he seems to be a likable guy but he seems to be lacking when it comes to talent evaluation, player development and overall defensive scheme.
My greatest fear is the cowboys lose a playoff game because a component offensive coordinator realized that the cowboys defense was vulnerable to runs up the middle .I wish the cowboys front office would stop viewing rod's views on the one tech defensive tackle as some sort of gospel. I believe awuzie and lewis both struggled in zone coverage yet excelled in man, which is ironic. It is disappointing that the cowboys could have hired Jim Schwartz and Gus Bradley as DC but chose to stick with rod
welcome to the zone broI really need to watch Vita Vea and I haven't but as much as you guys have hyped him up, I expect big things from him on tape. That being said, sigh this team with 1 techs. To me 2016 season Terrell Mcclain I'm sure I spelled his name wrong, but was the second best defensive player on the team. I love Lee, but he isn't going to play 16 games, having a guy like Vae would help cover up Lee's proficiencies quite well
