Jason Garrett remains the Cowboys' coach because Jerry Jones doesn't view him as the primary culprit for the debacle that was the 2015 season or the frustrating 2017 campaign.

Someone needs to truly sober Jerry up.
Maybe the glass cleaning guy needs to be fired so Jerry can see what is really happening.
Rowdy Must Go...all with me now....Rowdy Must Go....
Can Jerry's wife and kids have a..."we need a coach" intervention eye opening meeting....
Rowdy must go
Curtains Jerry, Curtains...do you need a curtains coach?
Hey, Rowdy can operate the Curtains...nah, Rowdy must go

We can only hope that he's at a crossroads. Sadly, I am not sure he is because Jerry and Stephen are never short on excuses for Garrett.

That's obvious when Jerry comes out and actually states they need to look at failures like the Atlanta game and why those games happened. If he was truly interested in knowing and understanding what happened in the Atlanta game, he'd likely be talking more about coaching problems because that game was a clear failure by the coaching staff.

But alas, it's just media speak for Jerry. And why this franchise is forever stuck in the mud.

“It's hard to believe Jerry will keep Garrett without a deep playoff run next season.”

No it’s not.

Jerry turns 76yo this July. If 2018 is another mediocre season, he doesn’t want to start over again in 2019, at age 77, with a new HC (presumably, meaning a whole new staff/system), while having to admit that, after 8 full seasons, he was proven wrong about Jason Garrett.

Barring a complete team-meltdown, Jerry Jones will bend over backwards to keep JG as his HC.

If Jerry wants to give Garrett another year? That's his decision. While I don't agree with it, it's not my call to make. I can only hope that the claims of accountability being made in this article are in fact, true. And that if Garrett does fail to produce, that he is shown the door, and Jones won't once again be looking for an out or excuse for his chosen coach.

The NFL is a results-driven league and people need to be held accountable, not coddled and enabled.

If this is his thinking, then Jerry is dumber than we can all imagine.

Because their is clear and current evidence of coaches coming in and making immediate turnarounds. McVay turned around the Rams in one season. Marrone has the Jags in the AFC Champ game in his first full year as their coach. Pederson has the Eagles in the NFC Champ game in his 2nd season and that's without Wentz, Jason Peters and their starting MLB.

Yeah let the OL, and Witten, and Dez, and Zeke, and Lee all get a year older because of course in the NFL you can always just flip a switch to become a winner. Every day JG is the HC is another day wasted for this franchise. The guy can not do the job. Almost 8 years. 1 playoff win. A dozen excuses. Guy is not a head coach.

Besides the garbage coaching staff you have to overcome the Jerry Jones lead culture of limited accountability and winning is secondary.

It stinks being a Cowboys fan these days. Worse than the Campo era because the roster is actually good.

They burned through Romo last few good years. They wasted Witten's last few really upper echelon years. They are wasting Tryon Smith's best years. They are wasting Lee's best years. They might have wasted Bryant's best years. And at this point, barring some change in heart by the Jones family, they will likely burn through the best years of Martin, Frederick, Zeke, etc. on this mediocre head coach.

It's depressing when you think about it. The Cowboys are near the top in the NFL in pro bowlers, All Pros, etc. over the last 8-10 years.......... and what do they have to show for it?

Zippo. Jerry and his management have basically just wasted great players we've had.

Add Ware to the list of wasted talents. Jerry didn't see the need to build defense when he was there. Better to trade #1s for Roy Williams.

And he's going to do it again to Lawrence as well, if they resign him.

I think what's positively stunning about all of this is that Jerry is clearly a bright businessman who has had tons of success not just in building one of the great sports franchises (in terms of money) but in real estate, oil, etc. Along the way, in building this empire, he must have had to make decision about poor performing personnel, entities, etc given the successes in business he has had. He doesn't get where he is by making bad financial decisions.

But how in the world doesn't that translate over to his football team? How can he see things in the business world but then fail to see an underperforming asset running his football team? To me, it's simply loyalty and he's become too emotionally involved in this. Garrett is a guy he really likes and he's a guy that Jerry sees as a link to the glory days of Jimmy, Troy, Emmitt, Irvin, etc. He cant get past that.

And it's cost him and will continue to cost him. If Jerry passes without ever winning another SB, he'll have no one to blame but himself, his misguided loyalty and his overall stubbornness.

After parting with Jimmy Johnson, Jerry tried the coaching carousel approach (Switzer, Gailey, Campo, Parcells, Phillips). Remember, he only hired Phillips because Wade agreed to take Garrett as OC and, as soon as this was settled, Jones took to calling Garrett “head coach in waiting.” There’s coaches...and then there’s anointed coaches. Jerry really believes in Garrett.

Like it or not (I don’t), it’s probably gonna take a serious failure by the team which can’t be rationalized away by injuries/suspensions, before Jerry replaces Jason.

Maybe Jerry will notice that other previously mediocre teams are leapfrogging the Cowboys every season, but I doubt it. Meanwhile, bu$$ine$$ is good in Cowboys land.

This source is suspect . They can’t even spell Prescott name right calling him “Dan Prescott”. Yesterday in celebrating the “ How Bout Them Cowboys “ 25th anniversary said it happened in the 93 championship game on the way to SB 27 which it was 92 championship game in 1993.

You all know how I feel about Garrett. He needs to stop coasting and start coaching. Being a walk around, he needs to focus on managing the game and clock.
A walk around that doesn’t walk around lol. He stands in a stationary position all game. He doesn’t get in the offense or defense huddles when they are playing trash. He’s useless.
