This league is in desperate need of some star power...
You know guys like Zeke Elliott, Dak, and Dez...

Instead fans are being fed a healthy dose of Case Keenan, Nick Foles, and Blake Bortles.

At least the owners agreed to pay Goodell another $200 million.

It's really odd. It's almost like if you win you get to keep playing in the playoffs.

Not surprising ratings are down, GB, the Gents, and us were all in the playoffs last year. Big followings.

Listen folks, ever since the Cowboys won their last super bowl game,
The event has got bigger and bigger. More
Popular by 100X . They are doing just fine without us being involved and JK knows it. When teams like Jax, Minny, Philly, Atlanta, and Seattle have championship appearances and the Dallas Freeeeeeking Cowboys haven't in two and a half decades, you must be honest . We ar some good fans to stick with this sorry franchise We are now ranking with teams like Cleveland and Cincy in playoff success?? Holy geeeeeewiz

As long as our front office sticks to its love affair offensive flair we will continue to be a regular season juggernaut with high jersey sales

Get a real D coord and some real talent and only then will we see playoff success and super bowl runs

Lol..Blake Bortles vs Case Keenum ..clash of the titans! I hope the commercials are good
I'm actually praying it's Jags versus Vikings. Would be so exciting to watch 2 of the best defenses and all the characters in both teams...... Plus it would give a former Cowboys player a Superbowl ring.

I can't wait for the Super Bowl...Patriots vs Eagles...and nobody watches. Then maybe the owners will tear up Goodell's contract....and hire someone competent.

I didn't read all the posts here, but of the ones I did read nobody mentioned all the political BS. That's the main reason I lost interest in the NFL this year and I have a lot of friends that quit watching for that reason. It's bad enough that we have to watch 300 commercials during games, but now we have to be force-fed all the political BS too. If I want to catch up on politics I'll watch CNN. When the NFL gets back to football, I'll watch the NFL again. Until then, they're just digging their own graves.

And for all the entitled millionaires playing in the NFL that are protesting our country, feel free to explore a professional football contract in another country. Don't let that big Red White and Blue door hit you in the a** on your way out...

  • Disney is also said to bid with games possible on ABC
  • CBS, NBC are said to aim to pay less than they did last year

21st Century Fox Inc. is seriously pursuing the rights to “Thursday Night Football,” a controversial TV property that could lift viewership of its struggling broadcast network and signal Fox’s path forward after a planned sale of assets to Walt Disney Co.

Fox has submitted a bid with multiple scenarios involving its namesake broadcast network and cable channel Fox Sports 1, according to people familiar with the matter. Those are two of the outlets it plans to keep after selling other assets to Disney for $52.4 billion. Fox has requested the game remain on Thursday, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private negotiations.

Disney has also made a bid that could put “Thursday Night Football” games on broadcast network ABC, one of the people said. Some bidders have proposed changes to the game, including only scheduling teams who have had more than a week of rest or moving a couple of matchups to other days of the week.

If the league would stop their assault on Dallas they would go up. Also people are tired of the patriots. Go away already.

Not sure what this means?

Are you saying that the league is trying to keep Dallas out of the playoffs?

Oh you want stars like Dez and Elliott and Zeke in the playoffs?

Your list of who to blame should have Jerry Jones #1, by far.

Im glad they are down! It all started with that Kapernick crap taking a knee and then him being black balled. It put a divide in the league when the Trump said players must stand. People are fed up with all that no matter what side of the argument your on you got sick of hearing about it. For me I love watching the playoff games but unfortunately I wont be watching the Super Bowl this year because of the ridiculous circus it has become. It is more about advertising and marketing than football itself. It was cute 10 years ago when that had some creative commercials but somewhere along the way the whole thing has become blown up more than it really should be. I would still like to see the Cowboys win another SB in my lifetime but the last thing I think I would want to see is Jerry face all over TV.

There are still a lot of variables at play. Television ratings across the board are down for everything from news to sitcoms to sports.

Also ther is a big disconnect between viewership and interest. Neilson has no way to account for both online viewing and sports bars and those are substantial numbers.

Personally, I had to watch games in three different cities theee times this year and every bar I was in was packed and they were big places.

I'm not saying the league isn't screwed up and the lack of national teams hurts a lot but television is in the middle of a huge shift of how we consume media and the NFL is not immune to the changes..

Finally, Vikes/Saints drew a 20 share leading into their prime time lineup - that number still dwarfs any other sports or television show aired this year and it's not even close. In fact 37 of the top 50 rated shows in 2017 were NFL games.

Yes it's down - yes it's still a monster. It will be interesting to see where it goes.

Exactly.........just this week ALL four major networks submitted bids for Thursday Night package.

Vikings vs. Jaguars

#15 TV market vs. #47 TV market. I can't wait...

This is exactly why I love sports.........at the end of the day it still comes down to may the best team/man win. If the league control the outcome coz this or that team isn't popular what does that say. I doubt there's any concern over PLAYOFF ratings down, regular season, yes but not playoffs. Just part of the beast coz every team as a right to a Super Bowl regardless of market size or popularity.
