Let's not drag politics into a discussion about NFL ratings. We can acknowledge that the kneeling issue might have played a role in the drop without discussing the merits of either side of that debate and dragging the thread into a ditch. Thanks.
If they ever want football to get back to its previous popularity, they have to get consistent with the rules.
The officiating is ugly, and the games have started to turn into who happens to appeal to the refs on a certain day rather than on talent.[/QUOTe

What if someone does a headstand during the national anthem. Is that a sign of disrespect? I feel we need to have that discussion as a society. Also, are people removing their tinfoil hats for the national anthem?
All ratings are down across the board in all sports. With the millennials, all the different ways to watch now, it's no surprise. From Outkick the Coverage:
This past weekend the NFL had three very competitive games among its four divisional round playoff contests.
Unfortunately for the league, ratings continued to plummet.
In fact, ratings are plummeting so much that virtually no major media outlets are even talking about ratings at all. It’s almost like the league and its television partners have put out the code red not to acknowledge the collapse in viewership so far in 2018.
...
Adding all these numbers up 120.8 million viewers watched the NFL divisional round playoffs in 2018 vs. 144.1 million who watched in 2017, a decline of 23.3 million total viewers.
That’s an overall viewership decline of over 16%, even steeper than last week’s 13% playoff decline. (Even if you leave out the Packers-Cowboys numbers completely the NFL playoff ratings would have still been down 10.3%).
These playoff numbers weren’t just bad compared to last year either, they hit a ten year low.
Will that change this coming weekend with the AFC and NFC title games? We’ll see. But no matter how you slice it, the NFL ratings, both playoff and regular season, are collapsing in 2018.

Maybe this will cost Goodell as much as it cost Zeke, in terms of lost salary.Don't get me wrong, I am a true Cowboy fan but if we had a run like the Pats, we would be lovin life......just like the Pats fans are doing. It's been a long time since we were on their pedestal.

Correct. The players have the right to protest, the NFL has the right to fine/fire them. Are you their employer? You don't get to make the decision that they don't have the right to protest where they work. You may not like it.. But this doesn't give you the right to tell someone else what their rights are. We all watch football to watch football. You are not unique in that. I could say I don't watch football to watch people be forced into a forced patriotism gesture. This is part of what makes us great in America. This isn't north korea where you are told you better bow to the dear leader. I guess you are uncomfortable when someone disagrees with you. If someone doesn't want to stand and salute the flag then that is their right. Forced patriotism does nothing for me.
The NFL has to be worried what will happen if the Jaguars win against the Patriots
I’m neither so I do not nor do I understand why any other fan does or would.
My ticket prices are not going down, parking is not going down, concessions are not going down. So why should I care if tv ratings slipped a little and especially at a time when they are slipping for almost everything on tv.
Im guessing you’re for a communist ecominc system in this country if you believe they are overpaid. You’re entitled to your opinion.Go ahead and show those overpaid, arrogant players kneeling for the Superbowl. I guess American took them seriously when the players said "If you don't like it...Don't watch." Dummies forget fans are what pays their big salaries.
Why wouldn’t the Cowboys fall under the same favoritism with the league and officials if they boost ratings ?if the jaguars win they will have to win against two teams the patriots and the officials.
Like I said that seemed to be what you were inferring. One other point I’ll make. You have some amongst Cowboys Nation who think the league is trying to do everything to keep the Cowboys out of the playoffs which is ridiculous. We lost Romo in 2015 and ended up going 4-12. You have a couple of teams battling to go to the Super Bowl this weekend that are playing with backup QB’s. We didn’t have Zeke for six games this season and we allowed it to ruin our season.
It’s not the league it’s us. You have those who are being so ridiculous they think the league is fixed. It makes you wonder why they even watch the game if they believe that. Some think it’s been pre determined by the league that the Pats make the playoffs every year. It’s absolutely ludicrous what you read on this board. The Cowboys have the most idiotic fan base of any in the league.
I agree with fair market value and I’d support dropping that value but the only way to do that is less demand.Im guessing you’re for a communist ecominc system in this country if you believe they are overpaid. You’re entitled to your opinion.
Hell, the players aren’t even getting market value with the salaries being capped.
I’m sure you’re consistent and believe the owners are overpaid as well. Maybe we should cap their earnings as well.
For me it’s just tougher watching our games but I still enjoy watching the better teams and talent around the league. We’re mediocre because he have no coach and a lousy owner, but that doesn’t make the zeke stuff less BS and when an NFL team goes 8 games without having one holding call on their opponents, coincidentally at the same time the owner is battling the commissioner and you don’t think somethings fishy, I got a bridge to sell you. As I posted in this thread. These things had me not watching non dallas games this year and I think many did the same. Dallas fans are the biggest group in the league. It effects ratings when we don’t watch.
