Depends if they are letting Jackson go as he was the S position coach while Baker coached the CB's.

Richard would be the Defensive Passing Game Coordinator and DB position coach but I am not sure if that covers both the CB and S positions or just the corners.

We should find out soon enough.
Jackson is basically the asst DB coach.

good hire but be warned that he will not change much schematically, seattle D is similar and they dont blitz like us.they just have better players.
And they spent money on FA NT Ahtyba Rubin and drafted NT Jarran Reed in the 2nd.

Just how similar is it?

. Not exactly true. What Seattle has is a lot of names right now. Would you take Bennett over DLAW? Is Sherman that much better than Chido? Will Earl Thomas be misused here? And he is now an injury risk. Remember also Marinelli would still be calling plays.

Baby steps...but at least some progress. Now where’s the young offensive mind that gets some influence? And no I’m not talking about Kellen Moore

We like our staff, and replaced the position coaches because they were replaceable. Just a day or two ago we were talking about how we couldn't attract top coaches because of the lame duck senior staff. Turns out that was wrong, too.

In all fairness, traditionally, that's the case.

He has some nice young DBs to work with already, but if he brings Earl Thomas with him, it's on!

Earl Thomas
Xavier Woods
Chido
Jourdan Lewis

No fly zone! :D

Gah, if it were me i'd pay whatever Horton wanted to come in and help coach DB's. Give advice on passing game defense too, whatever.

Richards experience as DC for Seattle for 3 years with Marinelli + Horton would give me a lot of faith in the coaching at least.

Dallas is a great place to go to position coach if you can get the gig. They're always on tv, they're not a small market or cheap owners, they've got amazing facilities and have had a stable coaching environment since 2010 now. It's kind of an ideal spot on your way up and out if you want to be a coordinator some day.

He is cheap when it comes to paying coaches and has always been.

Except for Garrett! I think Scott and Rod got a bump on that 3 year deal as well.

I am not sure if Richard would be coaching both the corners and S positions along with the Defensive Passing Game responsibilities.

We will not know until it is official but he may do both positions.

Exactly why we *should* spend mo' money on coaching, make Dallas an attractive pipeline not only for those reasons, but for wisdom as well.

If true I assume this means Greg Jackson is not coming back and ray Horton is also not being hired.

All that is left is hiring a linebacker coach and tight end coach.

Leon left being named defensive line coach in full I imagine is going to happen also

You forgot ST's coach (very important IMO) and QB's coach. Moore hasn't been given the keys yet.

I wonder if they promised Richard he would be the next DC, when Marinelli leaves. Finally, something to smile about
