Offensive line is key

Providing he gets better on his back...I feel right tackle isnt as demanding, thus extending how many games we can get out of him. We gotta be honest here.Tyron has only so much more time left in the league. He is not an elite player anymore. He was an embarrassment last year.Got to be honest with ourselves and take the heart off the sleeve. The tape dont lie.

Either the "tape" lied to you or you didn't watch "tape" because Tyron was not an embarrassment for the majority of the snaps he played.

FYI - Most of the time he missed was not due to his back.

Most of his issue was a groin injury and then somebody rolled up on his leg in the 2nd to last game and injured his knee.

i agree i think our tackle play was the weakest its been in a long time this year and it showed. tyron is so young still but his back worries me. i honestly wouldnt be mad if we went OT with first pick of draft.

I don't think we need to move Tyron to Right Tackle but we either need to sign a quality tackle or draft a guy that's a quality backup at that position.

If we had different coaches it wouldn't be as high of a priority for me but with the coaches we have Dallas has to have someone with real quality behind Tyron because we will be lucky if he ever plays 16 games for us again in the Regular season.
That’s just a sad reality lol.

Here is a possibility with this.
Move Collins back to LG, draft a RT, and it can be in the 2nd round even. Then eventually move him to LT if Smith still has his issues, which he always will have. But I just don't see them drafting a LT high in the draft. Then what do you do with 2 1st round LT's.
just play your best guys,no matter where they were drafted. You can never have too many good olineman. Tyron Smith just scares me if we are gonna roll out with him next year. Why you ask? Chaz Green...thats why. Plus Bell can start in spot duty...but he's just a journey man.

DT and OT should be our priorities followed by LB.

Although the team says Tyron won't be a problem, they don't have worries about him, history says otherwise.

Antonio Brown was a 6th round pick I believe. We can chase WR at the later rounds.

exactly. Its a proven thing taking an olineman in round 1. Its a safe pick PLUS we get a 10 year starter out of it. The bust factor is almost zero.

We took the strength of our team and knowingly made it an issue by not keeping Ron Leary. Of all the players we lost,he was the one guy we had to keep. It showed.

Bell and Green have no place on this team. They need to be replaced.

So Tyron Smith, a first round pick and was to be a 10 year player...are you saying he is a bust, but another 1st round pick won't be?

It used to be a proven thing....that hasn't been the case the past ten years....drafting Olinemen in the first has been pretty hit or miss.

The best trait a player can have is availability and no matter which body part we are talking about is neither here nor there. The facts are he has missed key games and stretches over the last couple years. You really want him to hold the team hostage again? Its pure fantasy to try to sell yourself on the notion he will be available for a full 16 game schedule AND play at an elite level. Last elite year he had was 2014. The injury bug has bitten him and these things linger. Its fool hearty to think THAT changes this year.

As far as Dallas is concerned we have a knack for getting that right.

not a bust. Come now. lol...just that the cat cannot stay on the field. When he's healthy he was elite. The problem is he is never fully healthy.

I commend your staunch loyalty to the player, but look at it from a logic standpoint...a team view. Its a bit risky to expect this guy to be fully recovered from his back, knee, hip issues. Thats asking too much.

I'm OK drafting an OT in the first. Use that player at either OG or RT in year 1. That player would be the top option to replace Tyron if he is injured again.

Tyron was still top 5 LT in at least 10 games this season but the injuries are a huge concern.

It's hard to sign a quality swing Tackle in free agency because those guys want to start; therefore the draft is the best option.

I would be OK with OT in the 1st and WR in the 2nd. Maybe trade up in the 2nd to near the 1st round.

Amen on Green..lord he was a hot mess. I believe Cowboyron coined the term "turnstiled."...which was his description he had on Green 2 years ago after a preseason game against the Rams. He and I saw this coming back then. It was a failed experiment from the start. The kid cant play in the NFL...cut him already. Bell...I dunno..he's a body..and at times was ok..so for me I rather hang on to him another year or until we find a swing tackle thats better.

great points.

We have other priorities at other positions, more so than a LT. Just get a quality back up, or can draft a LT in the later rounds to develop.

We need a big DT, at least 2 LB's. A speed WR. Even possibly a S an CB, depending their plans with who we have, and what they do with Scandrick. But do not need to spend a high draft choice either, unless one falls to them.

Like Denzel Ward, if he is there at 19, which he very possibly will be, and the lack of the coaches not wanting to spend a high pick on DT's. If he is there, and no LB, then Ward would be a great pick. Then dump Scandrick.

I agree on the later rounds. I wouldn't be opposed to taking a tackle in the 1st round if, say Connor Williams, is the only player left that you've assigned a 1st round grade to. But prior to the Tyron Smith pick, the best Cowboys' LTs in history were not 1st round picks. Flozell was a 2nd, Erik Williams was a 3rd I believe, Rayfield Wright was a late round as a TE. I think I would rather trade back and pick up another 2nd or 3rd and pick a backup that can be a starter.
