FA Part 1-WR

A reliable receiver like Jarvis could be an amazing addition for our young QB to grow with.

Im also a fan of Arob. The guy is loaded with talent.

Maybe Watkins would follow his favorite WR coach? It would be great to get some legit speed at thw position.

There are a lot of decent receivers on that list. I’m just afraid to over pay for one and be handicapped by a dud contract.

I hear ya, man.

Considering this FOs track record of bringing in FA WRs (or re-signing our own for big $$) who then proceed to underachieve, we got good reason to be afraid of yet another WR whiff.

Ones I may be interested in, but don't know a lot about some of them, and others know the name but without doing a lot of research, as to size and speed these would be ones I would take a look at. Enlighten me if you know why or why not any need to stay or go.
Many I removed that weren't sure, but left them at the bottom. I would rather draft a WR giving one a contract. I want a WR that can be a difference maker. Rather they were already one, or can or was supposed to be one.

Wide Receivers

Sammy Watkins (24)
Jarvis Landry (25)
Allen Robinson (24)
Marqise Lee (26)
Paul Richardson (25)
Donte Moncrief (24)
Terrelle Pryor (28), last year I would have been interested, not this year
John Brown (27), seems to make plays, but not sure about him either.

not sure about
Bruce Ellington (26), Cody Latimer (25), Ryan Grant (27), Jordan Matthews (25)

The list looks bad in my opinion. I think that draft would be the better way to go.

Have to cut Dez 1st to do anything...we’ll see if that actually happens or not. We’re stuck with T Will unfortunately due to his extension last year and Beasley, Switzer, and Noah Brown will all likely have roster spots as well...maybe a slight chance they cut Beasley but I kinda doubt it.
Revamping the WR group isn’t going to be as easy or drastic as people think
We can create equal cap space with a trade or restructure or extension with Dez

They need to have a frank discussion and figure out what both sides want

ARobinson and JLandry will fetch top dollar

If I had to guess based only on scheme, a guy like Gabriel to come and fill the lucky Whitehead role wouldn’t surprise me
We already have a guy in Switzer that can do those duties. The coaching staff didn't use him really until week 17 and caught everything thrown to him. Was able to get separation as well giving Dak plenty of room to get the ball to him.

I feel a guy like Watkins or Landry is the type we need. Great route runners with very good hands. Watch Landry in the skills challenge at the probowl Thursday and last year as well.

Dez is more then likely to still be in the roster at least this season. Pairing a Watkins or Landry beside him to replace Williams and Butler would be a huge upgrade and maybe it motivates Dez as right now he isn't worried since we don't have a receiver that can take his job. Watkins or Landry have the ability to take the number 1 spot. Gabriel doesn't have that skill set as a number 1

If we do nothing with Dez contract I don't see a way to bring in a too free agent at receiver. Way to much money at that position. If we keep Dez we must do something with his contract to bring in a guy that can really help. No need to bring in another Williams or Butler. Get legitimate help

I love Landry and think he would compliment Dak great, he's a much more polished Beasley. But he cannot play on the outside at all, strictly a slot. Commanding too much anyway.

Interesting comments. As to Jerry saying we are fine, we all know what Jerry says now is not necessarily going to be.

Sammy Watkins would be nice but doubt if we pay the money he wants and Rams a good bet to resign him. Same goes for Landry and Lee, just cost will be to much and Dallas won't bite.

Moncrief is a possibility if the Colts don't resign him.

Allen Robinson is an interesting case coming off an ACL injury and probably signs for a one year prove it deal. Case could be made to sign him with incentives that would increase his number.

Josh Gordon is a RFA, I believe, and Browns haven't decided to put a tender on him yet and just might only put a low tender believing teams will not take a chance. Believe Dallas would.

As to the rest, none of them give me the chills about being better than we already have.

If we keep Dez, then I see us only taking a guy during the draft although would be surprised if it is the 1st round.

Lee is a #1 but they aren't letting both go. Matthews is a very good possession WR. I see him pushing Williams for snaps. You pick him up and it makes Beasley better. It diminishes Williams though taking snaps but also takes some from Dez if they play that well.
Something similar, as to pushing, might just be what Dez needs.

Through the years, Dallas has brought in some successful receivers...even tight ends.

I've mentioned Allen Robinson since the beginning of FA talk. He's the one to go and get if the Jones' are going to
seriously think about saying goodbye to Dez.

I know many like Sammy Watkins. I like Robinson better. Watkins shows up huge and then disappears for weeks.
Not big on Moncrief. I just can't get it out of my head, a game where he dropped more passes than he caught. (Then again, Davante Adams was awful once too)

no question something needs to be done to the receiving corps. but I still worry garrett's 90's offense is the biggest reason our receivers all regressed this year. every single one of them. dez, Beasley, t.will and butler all had lesser years this past season. unless we can throw something new and innovative into our offense, we're going to remain the same. other than offering big bucks to fa's, I highly doubt dallas is where wr's want to come and play.

Any WR with deep speed solves a whole bunch of problems for the Cowboys. I think they take one high in the draft (like Kirk or James Washington) but I could also see a 2/3 type like Moncrief signed as well.

A WR who can get deep and Rico Gathers getting a lot of reps will completely change how defenses scheme against us. Last year they could ignore the deep stuff once they doubled Dez.
