News: Super Bowl ratings down just 3 percent for Patriots-Eagles

Cowboy fans are probably the most disgusted fans in the league.

I am sure most all of us tuned in.
 
next seasons ratings will be even lower. the nfl still can't determine what is a catch, still can't determine what domestic violence is. You can be arrested and cleared by the nfl within weeks but being cleared by the police and the nfls own dv specialist mean you must have done something. Goodell should have been axed years ago I cannot believe he just got extended.

How did Buffalo beat out Philly?

Eagles were compelling story this year with them losing starting QB. Even Alexa had them winning Super Bowl. That was one of better Super Bowls I have ever seen.
 
What should be extremely concerning to the NFL is that 8 year low in early viewing. That's when it should typically be the highest. That could point to a massive dive in initial interest in the game.

Lots of reasons for ratings to fall. Quick story.

I spent this weekend with our youth group from church. There were 51 kids. 31 were boys. I was the adult chaperone. It was 6th-9th graders. A few times I chatted with all the boys and ask who they were pulling for this weekend. All of them to a kid, said they did not watch the NFL, the game would be on because their dad/grandfather would watch it.

Hardly any could name a player outside of Brady/Gronk.

I ask them if they watched sports. All of them were either NBA/MLB fans and could name dozens of players.

I know as a kid there age, i watched all the SB's when I was their age, even though Dallas wasn't in any of them in the 80's. Football was kind. I don't think it's that way anymore for kids in middle school/high school.

Yup. My middle boy is in college here in New England, and he said there were more people watching the Celtics game on Sunday afternoon than the Super Bowl that evening. The NFL may be king, but the moat is drying up.
 
I am not surprised that the Super Bowl was not down as much as the rest of the playoffs. It's more of an event because of the parties, etc. The casual fan who is turned off by all the other stuff will begrudgingly watch this game because of the spectacle.

Don't tell the fools here that. They think the nfl is untouchable. Baseball lost its glory and so did the nba.

Yeah.. that's why average right fielders get 9 figure deals, because no one watches baseball
 
Whoever chose not to tune in missed a damn good game.
