Would Garrett Have Kicked FG Before Half?

There was nothing to lose at that point.
You go for it.
Field position, being underdogs, and time dictates that you go for it.

I actually believe that JG would have rolled the dice on that one also. Not that play, but some sort of fake also.

I’d bet that most HC’s would’ve kicked the FG in that situation — not just Garrett.

But it was definitely a ballzy call. Because if it DIDN’T work, and Philly woulda gone on to lose by 3pts or less, Pederson would now be a laughing stock.

He would have been questioned as much for not going for it had they lost. The reason being, Patriot's offense was unstoppable. Had they kicked the FG and gave the ball back to Brady with that much time left, Patriots would have most likely won.

People would be killing him for being gutless not going for it knowing the EaGirls defense hasn't stop Brady all night.

JG has a lot of flaws, being conservative isn't one of them. He typically goes for it a lot and takes a lot of risk. I'll give him that.

Nice try. This is about the Dallas Cowboys head coach. Not Jacksonville, Minnesota or anyone else. Since you know the answer is yes you had to dodge. Very cute
The point being, of course Garrett would have kicked the FG. You would have kicked your television set if Garrett opted to go for it.

Garrett would have lost that game by 24 points. To either team! With either one of their rosters!
This. See my signature below!!!!

No way a Garrett coached team even makes the big game much less win it. Heck, he can't even make the NFC championship with a 13 - 3 team. Pederson won it all with a twp year "process". Our "process" is a lot longer and much less successful.

Quite possibly. People asking if he would go for it are making a huge assumption he didn't already screw up the clock management and run out of time too far from the goal to kick a field goal much less score on a trick play.
That's deep thought, hadn't even considered that, but you're right.

We all know the EPIC fourth down pass to Foles right before half was the play of the game, but I am curious as to how many on this board think Garrett would have sent out the FG unit instead.

Serious question................I am 99.9% positive Garrett would have kicked the FG based on his past history

Garrett would've kicked. But Pederson was confident his team could still come back if he missed that 1st down. It's easier to do that if you have a good team with a good defense.
Garrett doesn't have that luxury. If Garrett took that risk, it'd be scarier.

We were top 10 in attempts last season, but nobody cares. It's kind of awesome in a way, and kind of depressing how, when a group wants consensus, it'll try to bully one if it can't get one rationally.

It reminds me of a thread we had a couple years back when everybody was slamming the staff for it's challenge success rate, thinking we were one of the worst teams in the league at getting challenges right, when it turned out we were actually the best in the league at it, and I pointed that out only to get another two pages of people complaining about our challenge success rate.
There’s a tremendous around of groupthink going around here.

“If you think x, then you obviously are clueless.”
Nah, it ain’t that simple.

you would think a man with so much job security would coach a little looser.

what does he have to lose?

I think probably every other coach in the NFL would have kicked the FG. Gotta give Peterson credit for having some balls. If he had failed he would have been a goat, but I think he had the right attitude that the Eagles would need to take chances to be able to win.

Garrett would have kicked the FG or worst case would have run Zeke and got stopped by inches. Not the trick play, no way that too when they were 15-12.

If Eagles kick FG. 18-12.

But the best part was going for it and being ahead by 2 scores. Since Pats get the ball back with 54 secs in 1st half. Score 18-19.

Pats get the ball after the break. Eagles could have been behind by 8 points if that happened.
Score 18-26. Eagles would be chasing Pats from there on.

Awesome strategy where they kept Pats chasing them instead.

Garrett's not the brightest bulb on game day, but i'd say no he wouldn't have. I'm pretty sure he would have let Bailey kick it.
