Its basically a three year deal for 30 Million. For a guy that wouldn't start for us.

Now back to all the posts about why the Cowboys are idiots for not topping that.
Because Jaylon sucks... How was that?

Maybe my math is off but cutting him after 2 years, they would have to take approx. $7MM in a dead cap hit.
Closer to 9m and if his 2020 base fully guarantees after 2018 then 12-13m

it is at least a 3 year deal

Jaylon sucks so guarantee 30 Million to the guy that couldn't beat him out.

Genius.

And then after paying Hitchens that, complain in a year or two why we still have cap constraints.

Sorry I was being sarcastic, I liked Hitchens just not 9mm AAV hitchens. But I am sure many here think Jaylon Sux and we should have kept Hitch because of that.

I’m not qualified to weigh in on whether we can afford Hitchens or not or even if he’s worth it . My bigger concerns are what is our plan now?

What If Jaylon still isn’t ready and Lee has another injury riddled season? Is Wilson and Wilbur ready? Are we making LB a priority in draft now ? What are the ripple effects going to be?

Good player, good for him and his agent. I'd would have gone 6-7 mill range but anything more is waaaaaay to rich for my blood.

Still a decent player though :dance::dance:

I do believe a LB will be drafted maybe 2 remember Hitch and Wilson were both 4th rounders so I do believe they can find replacements in the draft and UDFA

See, this is what I don’t understand with the Cap. If we think he’s worth 6-7 million then he has some worth to us.

What exactly are we going to use a couple a million a year we’re so determined to save? Is this going to be used for his replacement ,another signing or just money saved.

I think I’d feel better if I knew what we were using the savings on and how we intend on replacing a starter along with our overall strategy at LB.

Hitchens is Demarco Murray without any Franchise records or OPoY Awards or Pro Bowls or value

So usuing this same philosophy we could replace Dak with a 4th rounder?

Id argue once they become starter you have to throw out their draft status and speak of it as needing to find a starter not just another 4th rounder you hope to develop into a starter.

No but the teams scouting has been pretty good at finding LB in the mid rounds. I do not know how deep this draft is as it relates to LB.

I’d compare Hitchens more to Carr a few years ago which we over paid because we needed a Corner.

I’d assume letting Hitchens walk we don’t need a LB. it’s a position we’re fat on? Or we have a plan to replace him?

He only plays 1/2 the snaps and he still missed 4 games this year
Lee missed all of 2014. Playing 1st and 2nd down and sitting out 3rd down doesn't equate to 1/2. It's 2/3rds.

As another poster said, it's basically 3 years 30 million.

Your 3 highest paid LBs are now Kuechly, Wagner, and Hitchens. I have no problems with us not matching that offer.

Yet he never played over 53% of the snaps in his career

Hitchens can't carry SLee's helmet
