He's a complete back who can still take it to the house. he can block and catch. He'll be comfortable with the playbook. He' s a better A Morris.
She's still good enough to be a starter too. I'd make him Zekes back up and give him 5 carries a game and let him block on 3rd down.

I wouldn't have a problem with it and a solid backup that fits the Offense its just about how much ?

You would not have a problem with a 30y old RB with a ton of mile otc, its far easier and cheaper to draft a RB with one of the 4th round picks we hold.

Part of me wants him back if he comes real cheap. But, I think it would be better to just go with drafting a guy and Rod Smith.

He's a back up. Back up.
Im also assuming he'd be so comfortable in Dallas that he'd take a veteran minimum contract.
Yeah he's 30, but he's a all around back. He's not a liability in any area. He's better than Afred Morris and McFadden.
He also still has decent speed. He had a 70 yard run last year.
If he takes a veteran minimum contract, why would you be against it?

Sshh, I hate to tell you this but Morris is an UFA, and McFadden was cut in 2017 and has since retired.

Meanwhile back at Valley Ranch.

RB are the easisiest position to replace, and just because a 30y old RB had a 70 yard run, does not mean we need to go and sign him. You draft his replacement.

Im obviously talking over your head.
I'll try again.
I'm not saying sign him because he's 30. I'm saying sign him for a combination of things. He's a "complete" back. He's a very good receiving back and blocker. If Zeke gets hurt, he can handle 20 carries a game. The 70 yard run is icing on the cake. Also, he's familiar with the play book and is comfortable here. Those things can lead to him taking a team friendly deal. Sproles, and other backs have shown they can be good at 30. He has no weaknesses as a back. he's not the best at any one thing, but he's good at everything. That means when he spells Zeke, you dont have to telegraph anything. The defense won't know which play you're going to run. Most older players would love to retire with their old team.

Smith played well enough to earn the backup spot last year and should continue to improve going forward. He isnt crazy fast but he moves well for a big guy, can block and catch. We could target a faster receiving threat out of the backfield but zeke and smith fill that role fine.

The Cowboys value RBs that can pass block. If a rookie struggles with that concept, he won't get much playing time unless due to injuries to guys in front of him.
Murray knows how to block, but I'm assuming he is still asking for some coin and we have Smith that the team feels comfortable with and is cheap.

He has too many miles on the clock, he has had over 10,000 carries since playing in college, you do not need to sign an old RB, we can draft a better player in the 4th round, if he was a as good as you think he is why is he still a UFA, why did the Titans not bring him back for less money, why not go to another team that needs a back up RB, Sproles gets a job as he was never a lead back, he was always a scat back who has less miles. Murray has gone, like others before him.

I think you are a little off in the 10,000 carries. Give him 4 years of college ball plus his 7 years as a pro and include all his touches (rushing, receiving) he would need to have touched the ball approx 900 times a year, sounds a little high, don't you think?

my bad, was looking in the wrong column.

In the 99 NFL games Murray has played 99 games and has accounted for 9339 Rushing/Catching yards that comes in at 19 touches per game, throw in his College numbers 40 games played he averaged just shy of 23 touches per game, combined that averages 21.1 touches per game.

Would this be the same Murray who is 30 years old and averaged 3.6 yards per carry behind the same line where Derrick Henry averaged 4.2? The same Murray who had the worst season of his career in 2017?

If his name was John Smith no one here would even notice he's a free agent, coming off that dismal season.

and smith is gone.
If Murray signs for cheap, I'll take him
So What the titans let him go Mickey spag. I've seen a bunch of players get released because of age even though they were still good. Ware got released. He was.a Monster with Denver. A good staff makes decisions on their own. They dont look at what other teams did and say they must be right.
Oh yeah, Hambrick averaged more yards a carry than Emmitt as a back up and when he started, he sucked and his career was over after that year.
