Hear me out....

Zack is one of my fave Cowboys but....he's playing hardball and will want a ridiculous contract.

We cant have all our cap dollars tied up in linemen, I wouldn' sign him anyway for the contract he wants so why not throw some trade bait out there

1st and 2nd or two 1sts...whatever

You wouldn't sign the guy who solidified our line and is arguably the best at his position in football? LOL. Glad you aren't the GM sir. Like I get it obviously. But losing Martin would destroy this line.

Only way I would do it is on draft day and I guard I think can replace him is available with the pick and negotiations are so far apart I don’t think we could ever get him signed. I guess if that was the case I would go ahead and gamble on the rookie OG and another solid pick in the 2nd round over 1 year of Martin and losing him for a 3rd round comp pick two years from now.

I love Martin. But I also understand the financial side of this where paying an OG like $15MM a year can screw up a cap.

It's an interesting situation for sure. If someone was willing to give up a lot for him, I'd definitely consider it.

I've said this many times. We are WAY over paying for our oline.

Martin will want 15 mill a year. We can't pay that along with Smith, Fred and Collins... all being paid top 5 at their position.

So if we don't and he just walks next year we get nothing.

Now if Smith can only play another year or two, then maybe you pay Martin. In two years we will have to pay 20+ mill to a QB.

I would very much be looking at any deal I could get for Martin.

Yes, I'd hate to lose him, but I'd rather lose him now and get something for him than lose him next year and get nothing.

Our free pass expires when Dak gets paid.

I like Martin as well. I am with you there. At this point though if we were thinking of getting rid of OL dollars, you have to consider Tyron first because his injury situation is not going to get better.

Hate to lose such a star, but until they figure out how to manage the cap, they need to think outside the box like this IMO.

There should be a rule on this board that some posts automatically unplug the keyboard for the author.
The OP's question isn't really off the rails here. If Martin were to want an exorbitant amount of money, and a team offered, say, a top 10 first round pick and the equivalent second round pick (let alone two 1sts), I think it would be silly to not even consider it.

Since we gave up two #1's for Joey Galloway, then Martin should be worth four #1's. Jerry should start with that selling point, and take no less than three #1's ;)

However, I hope we keep him, by "hook or crook", to use a Jerri-ism.

I'm down with trading La'el, Sean Lee, Dez, Zeke, or Witten.

I'm keeping Tyron, Fred, Martin, Dak, and Lawrence.
