Browns signed Jarvis Landry to a five-year, $75.5 million extension through 2023.
ESPN's Josina Anderson was the first to report the impending deal. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the contract includes $47 million guaranteed, and Landry is now the fifth-highest paid receiver in the league based on average salary. It is a shocking price to pay for a volume-based player who never elevated Miami's passing attack past mediocre, but Landry at worst can be a reliable safety blanket for whichever quarterback Cleveland selects with the No. 1 overall pick. The guy put up top numbers with tannehill, Matt moore and old cutler. He earned that bread.

I don't think any receiver is worth that much coin, but he earned a big payday and that's where the market is, unfortunately. Beckham getting $20M/yr doesn't look so crazy now.

Dez has more TDs the last 3 years with Romo, Cassel, Weeden, KMoore and Dak
Yards and receptions aren't even close tho. I'll take a guy that is effective from the 20-20 rather than a guy that only does something from the redzone.

if the coaches can make it work, great, if not, its another dud year because who knows which qb emerges.

And catch % isn't close either. Of course part of that is because the Dolphins didn't throw downfield to Landry as much, but there is a lot to be said for steady and consistent.

Hes a better Beasley. Not paying any predominantly slot guy that much.

Comparing him to Dez is apples and oranges. But if were playing that game give me Dez for 2 years and 24MM with no guarantees verses that horrendous Landry contract.

Would be probably hard to get 1000 yards every year on screen passes.

They designed a lot of short quick passes for him cause he's a tough guy to bring down and is dangerous with the ball.

https://www.lockedondolphins.com/dolphins/jarvis-landry-2017-receptions-chart/

Landry’s 548 yards after the catch accounted for 55.5% of his total yardage. He averaged 4.89 yards after the catch per reception and his average route run went 3.92 yards down the field (for comparison, Kenny Stills was at 11.79).

The Dolphins emphasize these strengths by throwing the football to Landry close to the line of scrimmage – 44.6% of his 112 catches came within three yards of the LOS, and 20.5% were at, or behind the LOS.

He's a good receiver, but not sure he's 47mil gtd good. But Browns got money to blow.

The Browns have so much cap room and carry-over that their contracts are a bit distorted.

He is not what you think,,,,,,,not a WR1

Neither is Dez but atleast Landry can run a proper route and sit down properly in a zone giving his QB and easy target.

Dez? Not so much.

And Landry was their best wideout last year, 900+ rec yards and 9 td. That's still better than what Dez put up.

The Dez loveboat is real!

That's not saying much though, especially with smoking Jay at the helm. Stills was just about phased out due to Cutler and his crap footwork/not willing to take a hit waiting for the play to develop deep. Parker still teases potential one game and then decides to be pushed around the next game by a small corner. Perfect Madden WR, but someone who I question his passion for the game and how far he is willing to push himself to be a #1 receiver.

Landry is a better route runner for sure though. Fiery dude who has taken dumb penalties and has let emotions get the best of him at times.
