I’d trade a 3rd for him, without question. Not willing to give up a 1st or 2nd for him. No way.

Earl Thomas disrespect his team by running to Dallas and saying come get me. I wonder what his teammates thought about that? That doesn't sit well with me. He is also on the down side of his career.

Let's find the next Earl Thomas not the last one.
He knew they were about to purge Sherman, Chancellor, Bennett, Lane, and others from that defense. Knew he'd be next.

I would not part anything above a 3rd RD pick,ET is not playing in Seattle next year.the Seahawks are dumb if they turn down a 3rd Rd pick especially since they are rebuilding.

I’m not giving premium picks for a 29 year old safety.

With only 1 year left on his contract. That's all we'd be paying for. 1 year.

Let's assume Thomas was a free agent, and was offering a 1 year deal for 8.5mil. I don't see that as something we need to jump at. It's one of those "stack the team when you have a true contender" kind of deals. I don't think we're there, and we have some young guys to play. Let's just continue making a team.

And now give up a premium pick for that?
No way.

If we give up more than a 4th round comp pick we are insane. You can't give up draft capital and a huge contract for him. It would be idiotic.

Not to mention the defensive fire sale going on there.

Sherman, Bennett, Chancellor...
Avril is also mulling retirement. The cupboard isn't bare though they signed extended Bradley McDougal to play the other Safety spot with ET. They are not going to let him walk. They still have Frank Clark, KJ Wright, and B-Wags. Jareen Reed is turning out to be a stud there and they signed lesser know guys or reclaimation projects like Mingo, Dion Jordan.

Shaqiem Griffin's twin brother Shaq is a stud at Corner and they signed Dontae Johnson from San Fran. They also signed another safety. They aren't as bad off as people thing because they could coach 'em up.

For a top 3 safety, sure..............

If you have watched the Cowboys drafts what they have done with the second round is the exact definition of waste.

Most likely we are taking defense at pick #19 (DT/LB), 2nd round we can take our wr. Not a waste this year to have it.

I would rather have Earl Thomas than whoever we would draft in the second round.

Yes, it's just for one year because we likely would get him as a free agent next year. But I'm of the opinion that we can compete for a championship this year. And Earl Thomas could be the difference maker.

When you have the chance to add premium elite talent to your biggest position of need, you take it. If the price is a 2nd rounder, so be it.

DT????? You did see/hear they had a dt the no 5 on their board and they passed it, I will agree with Dave Helmand here they will have to draft a dt for me to believe it. I still don't get why everyone wants a back up lb so bad.

Seattle needs to do something before the draft. I'd offer a 2nd and Cole Beasley. Take it or leave it.
We would still be getting fleeced! This is so stupid, its like Dallas is begging for Thomas and Seattle is holding all the cards. Dallas should offer a 5th round pick and thats it! We couldnt get anything for Dez so why should Seattle get anything for Thomas!

I take the wr in the 2nd round (if we go defense 1st round). Dak needs weapons.

Lee has missed so many games and Dallas doesnt have nay Depth at LB. We have all seen over the years that when Lee goes out this defense goes down a notch. Dallas should be taking a long hard look at a LB in the draft as a replacement to Lee. I wouldnt be against taking a DT but I think right now the dline can survive without a DT vs if Lee goes down! Smith was no more than a jag last year and Hitchen was solid but he is gone!

If Vea is there at #19, yes DT.

You are mostly right on the history of our 2nd round picks, we have certainly had some busts as have all teams.

But...past picks are irrelevant in this draft and I would rather have that pick plus the benefits of the low salary that come withit than Thomas and his outrageous salary.

Again...i would like thomas but not for anything higher than our 2nd 4th and the deal has to be reasonable. We are not 1 player away on defense...yet

I'd give them a third with a conditional 4th in 2019 if Thomas is still on the roster as of April 1st. Since the draft is in Dallas and they will want ESPN talking about them non-stop, I suspect they will make a deal happen by offering a second this year and a third next year.

I agree that he saw the writing on the wall about changes coming.

But he's also been angling for a new deal for himself for a while too.

That's the part of the equation that gives me the most reservations.

If he's simply angling for the most money? Stay in Seattle.
