Possible ET trade: legit or dead?

Since we're only couple days from the draft, I'm curious if you think the ET trade has legs or Cowboys have likely moved on. Personally, I have no problem with it as long we do not give 2018 1st, 2nd or 3rd round pick. I'd consider a conditional 2018 4th and 2019 conditional 2nd.

This strikes me as a standoff between the two teams to see who blinks first.

Seattle knows that Dallas is interested.

Dallas knows that Seattle is rebuilding and isn't going to sign Thomas to a huge extension.

They either move him now or watch him walk next year.

I give the Cowboys credit for being patient and waiting and I think they should continue to do so.

well this is at minimum the 6th thread speculating, how about we wait until Thursday night and see? nothings dead not even during Preseason or mid season..all this talk from eople who know nothing about it.. most likely to happen when seatle and Cowboys picks in round one are nearing, if not unlikely..

like ive said 6 other times Draft picks they were asking for too steep, he wants even more money and an extended contract, His age, and as much as he might be good for 2 seasons here, hed be a progress stopper..

if you want a trade for a potential young S than id rather give up my 2 to move up and Grab Fitzpatrick or James..it makes more sense..

If you burn a premium pick, in 5 years hes going to cost that anyways if he turns out to be Earl Thomas.

But you'd get those 5 years of quality play at a much cheaper rate.

Seattle has no Position on the negotiation table. They know that ET will walk next season for nothing.

That's a key point to keep in mind.

The Cowboys aren't stuck to where they have to have Earl Thomas - and then have to sign him to a huge extension.

Seattle is the team with more of a need to do something.

Apparently Seattle has dropped their price to 2 and 4. Dallas can probably make them bend to just a 2 and I think that’s fair

The first 4 rounds this year is STACKED. This is not the year to be getting rid of quality picks. I love ET, but we have too many holes to fill.

It isn't stacked with player's of Earl Thomas' ability. It's stacked with a whole bunch of decent NFL players.

You want decent, or do you want elite?

Not only that's but one tweeter mention couple days that he had looked at all possible landing or interested teams and could only come up Dallas and one other team ( can't think of now ). But the other team doesn't have enough cap space. so it's really Cowboys or nothing for Seahawks.

You're also taking a risk that Earl Thomas isn't Earl Thomas anymore either.

If you want to keep the guy past one year, you're forced to invest serious money. That's undeniable.

That's tough enough, but then to add significant draft capital on top of it is too high a price to pay for anybody.

I can't think of the last deal where a team paid both big money and draft picks that it worked out for them, can you?

I doubt it happens, I personally do not want him. I'd rather trade up for Derwin James.

You'd prefer to use a 1st and a 2nd (at a minimum) for a rookie rather than a 2nd and 4th (at a maximum) for an all pro?

Not sure I like that trade. By not sure I mean absolutely not.

The reason I think (and have read) Seattle won’t go for anything in the 4th or later, and it is a risk, is that they SHOULD get a 3rd round comp out of what his contract/play will be if he walks in FA.
Clearly he could get hurt, or they could cancel out comp picks with additions next offseason.

Earl Thomas is great right now. And this team is about right now if they're putting their eggs in Dak's basket.

John Clayton is Mr Seattle guy and he's said that it's Dallas or nothing at this point.

And he's also said that he believes that Seattle would come down on their trade demands. And I think that only increases leading up to and during the draft.
