You were right about him being the pick. Kudos.Damn he closes fast. Those long levers of his really help close the gap even quicker.
Between the physical ability, character makeup, and tape I would say that late first round is probably about right for Vander Esch. He’s still a pretty inexperienced player having just played 11-on-11 football for one season as a starter, but that only makes his production in 2017 all the more amazing to me. He strikes me as a hungry player who will take the underdog mentality that led to him walking on at Boise State to the NFL and that should serve him well. He profiles as a true 3-down linebacker

The defense got better tonight. Particularly the pass defense. LVE is the prototype MIKE in this scheme and its a crucial position here. I think you will be seeing him alot in deep zones this year. I really see him helping our Safety play.
Thanks for the info. Although I was not to thrilled with the pick mainly I am concern about his toughness and able to shed blocks. However, I do like his instincts which is something you can not teach. Hopefully he becomes a great player for us.
Marinelli is trying so hard to bring that garbage Tampa 2 back with this pick. Big guy that can move and cover deep middle.

True. I am more upset that we did not get one of them and they were so close to us. Oh well hopefully LVE can turn out to. E a good pro.The defense got better tonight. Particularly the pass defense. I think the disappointment in the pick from some has more to do with just missing out on Edmonds and James and thats understandable. But we got a big peice to our defense and we still have our 3rd round pick we wouldnt have if we moved up
Yeh so the Defensive Coordinator doesnt scheme and tell the passing game "manager" what they are trying to do? Got it.Kris Richard is in charge of the back seven in the defensive passing game.
It was Matt Eberflus' job the previous two seasons.

The best wr in the draft was on the board we took the 4th best LBThis is my biggest concern. There is no replacement for experience. His size is a big plus. I think he compares to Rolondo McClain in that regard, but I think McClain was a lot more physical. I can't really complain about the pick, because there wasn't a lot available, and I didn't like any of the WRs or S left.
