The least amount of unhappiness?

What were the Cowboys going to do at 19 when they'd created their own need in letting Hitchens walk, Smith is an unknown and Lee is another injury waiting to happen?

When James began to fall, I thought they might move up unless that have some other plans for Safety, which might materialize today.

I considered all of the draft boards I'd seen and as our time came and I heard the predictions on which WR we would take from Kiper and Co and it came down to Moore or Ridley, I thought 'no, they have to take the best D player available and the position was undeniable', there was only one player that made sense and they took him.

There was not going to be one player taken at 19 that would have made all of us happy but I suggest that either of those WR's would have created the most unhappiness.

This was the perfect storm of BDPA and obvious need meeting. All of this "is he Carpenter or Urlacher?" is nonsense as it is too early to tell how he is going to fit but I feel there was pretty much agreement with the coaching staff that he was the best player available.

I don't usually avoid taking shots at Booger & Co but this one, however it works out, will not get criticized by me. He didn't get cute with trading, stayed put and got the guy they'd been looking at all along and I am not sure if James had been there at 19 that they would not have taken Vander Esch. And we know Booger loves to make a splash so not taking a WR at that spot showed the necessary self restraint.

The team and defense had a glaring need and they filled it with the best player available. How can that make anyone unhappy?

i have no idea either. yea hes no urlacher, but he can play. I hope Bloom helps him out. Im happy with the pick, if Dallas does well in teh rest of the draft, but they could have gone up to get James. we dont need all 10 players. Dallas doesnt have to horde picks this year.

I don’t have a pronlen with the pick. Some were saying if there wasn’t the neck injury he may have been gone by 19. But apparently he is good to go. Neck isn’t going to be a issue. And he is a smart player that is bigger that Lee and will be learning from Lee.

I think we will grab at least one another LB.

I think they're planning on another player at Safety because I haven't heard that they even investigated moving up when he began to fall.

I really don't know what posters thought they could do with letting Hitchens, their most dependable LB, walk. The need was apparent when you consider how this D falls when Lee is out.

I think at least one more but according to the graders, the falloff from the top 3 is pretty steep and they had to have a day one starter.

And the best part of this is he wants to go to the Superbowl!

We have good luck in the 4th round. I just hope we don’t trade picks away for Thomas. Take the best players in the first 3 rounds. Still plenty left in the board.

They decided they did not want to pay the dollars for an above average guy. LVE will be cheaper and under team control for 4-5 years. From all reports LVE is going to be good his ceiling is much higher than Hitchens, and very possibly his rookie year will be better than Hitch's
