Rumor: Mortensen: Witten to retire **merged**

I'm talking more about this coming out today. Whoever broke the story.

:rolleyes:
so, now it's the deceptive art of industrial sabotage?
Unleased in Sly subterfuge in hopes of forcing a 'forced move' heh?o_O

* yer' prolly closer on this than you know,,,,or,,,,out of ALL the leagues football fans forums,,, the ZONE is singled out in envious hopes of bumming out & bringing down that 24/7 rolling upbeat crowded house:)

:starspin::lmao::starspin:

This is very strange. Something happened to change his mind. Something he don’t like.
I think coaches mentioned they want him to run deep post and crossing patterns and to cut out
the 3 steps and turn around routine.
Actually this will open up new opportunities for other TEs on the roster.

Cool story!

Don’t stop there. Make up some more.
I hear it all started last season. Witten made a catch and glanced up in the sky box and Witten and JJ locked eyes. Never lock eyes with JJ. It’s been on ever since.

:rolleyes:
Do you actually honestly believe that JOEYB718?,,, sure, maybe a weaselnutt like BUDDY RYAN/ CHIP KELLY carry a "dick nixion" page in their operations manual,,, but that's the kind of logic really akin to a couple of 1950's housewives swapping fence gossip across the fence ,,,er,,,while hanging clothes on the line,,,,ah,,,,and huffing Chesterfield's W/ gin martini's in hand ,,,,SHEESE! probably around 2:30,,,or maybe 2:45 on a Wednesday afternoon,,,,,,o_O
not sure what you said in 75% of that response LOL but JOEYB718 is right about teams will jump ahead of us or draft a TE if they have any inclination to do so before our pick comes up, sure they will. and to do so is not wrong for any team to do. If I was a GM, I for sure without a doubt would grab a player I desired for my team ahead of schedule if I knew another team was looking at him. I would move up if necessary.So that is not Buddy Ryan/Chip Kelly type moves, that is plain typical football GM moves that every team in the NFL would do if it was in the best interest of their perspective team to do so.

As a Cowboy fan, this is top 3 saddest day of my life. He needed to retire but I didn’t expect it this season. He was, and probably will remain, my favorite Cowboy of all time. All class on and off the field. True leader. I want to use so many expletives now...

I said this quite a while back that it was very possible this last contract with Witten might be a "parting gift" to Witten as part of a gentleman agreement with Witten to take less at the time in return for a paring gift at the end.

At that tineI thought Witten might be helping the team to "cover" the desire to draft a tight end high this year. The talk about him trying out for broadcasting fits in with that narrative.

The team might be having this come out during the draft to appear to not be giving money on the end of wittens deal for zero real consideration. I'm not sure if that would be a rules vilolation or not but it's pretty much a moot point the way this seems to be going down.

Could have, they just released the info that Favre failed his audition and the negotiating could have just concluded.

Witten is not doing anything TO the team, he's doing something FOR his own future. Some are acting like he's done the team wrong, I don't see that.
I was gonna attempt to exhort some type bribe by pointing out the fact of me hitting you with a single " like" would break yer' post to like ratio over to the like side, then I pulled up reign on my Dyslexia,,,, so,,,,er,,,,never mind CC,,,:thumbup:

:lmao::lmao2::lmao:

I don't think witten left the team holding the bag. I don't think the team is remotely surprised by it no matter what they say publicly.

Would it matter to you if the MNF offer wasn't made until this late in the process? It would to me. I don't blame him for taking the MNF offer, so the timing of the offer is key in my mind.

Sure, it matters.

Least we’re entertaining and number 1 on the Forbes list!

I'm still trying to figure out who all these players are who's career was ruined by Garrett. Since this thread is about Witten, are we saying that 15 years, 11 Pro-Bowls, the 2nd most yardage of any TE ever and certain enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is somehow a ruined career?

Green Bay, Detroit, Dallas, New Orleans, Carolina. Tampa will be much improved as will San Fran and the Giants. I can see every team in the NFC with a chance of making the playoffs with the exception of Washington, Chicago, Arizona, and maybe Seattle.
These teams are all bad. Every team having a chance to make the playoffs means that all the teams are bad, not that they're all good. It's Philly, LA, and Minnesota, and then about 8 other average teams who could make a run if things go right, like Philly last year.
