Rumor: Mortensen: Witten to retire **merged**

We have Beasley, maybe coaches can get Swizter and his speed on the field more, Hurns when healthy produces. TWill is up and down, yes. We most likely will get a TE/Wr in the 2nd and or 3rd. We aren't devoid of skill players. We just need Dak/Zeke to show what they did in 2016 and our OL to not be up and down like last year.

We have Beasley who was shut down last season. As for Hurns he hasn’t been healthy in two years and no guarantees he fits in or can stay healthy. Twill has been up and down his entire career and is coming off his worse statistical year last season. Any TE or WR we draft is going to have a difficult time producing as a rookie. Dak is going to have a tough time bouncing back with the receiving corp we currently have. Not saying he can’t but it’s going to be difficult.

He certainly is going to have his work cut out for him. The Cowboys are banking on a lot of things happening for the offense and team to rebound from last season. Talent wise the Cowboys are a worse team now than they were last year at this time. You can’t lose a Dez Bryant and a Jason Witten and not suffer some repercussions from it. They may not have been what they were but they were still good players, plus Witten provided leadership.

Forget him. What kind of middle-of-the-draft boggus crap is this after he had been saying all offseason that he was going to stick around until he's 40? He can shove it with such sudden reversal and timing.
Such a mature rational opinion.

Just last week, Witten said he planned on playing until he turns 40 years old. Now suddenly during the draft he changes his mind and decides to retire. You're not going to call that a blindsided act?
Nobody believed he’s playing til 40. It’s just player talk. You believe brady is going to play til 45 like he said as well?

OL is the key. Zeke is a product of the line. Cowboys weren’t good vs Denver and Seattle with him.

Zeke is no product of this OL he’s a great player. Despite the OL not being that good last year Zeke would’ve had well over 1000 yards had he not been suspended.

not sure what you said in 75% of that response LOL but JOEYB718 is right about teams will jump ahead of us or draft a TE if they have any inclination to do so before our pick comes up, sure they will. and to do so is not wrong for any team to do. If I was a GM, I for sure without a doubt would grab a player I desired for my team ahead of schedule if I knew another team was looking at him. I would move up if necessary. So that is not Buddy Ryan/Chip Kelly type moves, that is plain typical football GM moves that every team in the NFL would do if it was in the best interest of their perspective team to do so.
:copy' yet yer' not authorized to set the dictates of the narrative to mesh with yer' vectored trajectory, friend!,,, it was presented simply along the Premise of contested foes scooping up a player of which they've little to no use for in there scheme solely done in vindictive spite to Deny a conference foe their desired choice,,,, if you're capable of doubling that admitted 25% comprehension level,,,well, friend,I'd reckon you'd be running right around 50% odds on keeping up,,,,

* Chip Kelly taking #29 ,of which he had no viable fit for him in his system is clear illustration,BRASSo_O

We see things differently. I guess your definition of skill wr's are the elite wr's like Julio Jones, etc.

The truth is you would not know a real football player if he walked up and bounced you on your pointy head.

I have no patience for idiots bad mouthing Jason Witten,
I've never questioned his performance on the field, but this sudden blindsiding decision during the draft is wrong on so many levels.

Our offense won't stall this year because we don't have Dez/Witten. It will be because Zeke/Dak aren't the 2016 Zeke/Dak. I guess we see things differently. I guess you definition of skill wr's are the elite wr's like Julio Jones, etc.

Our offense could likely be one of the worst in the league if Dak doesn’t bounce back and Zeke doesn’t have a big, injury free season. I see our receiving corp as AVERAGE. Add up the numbers Hurns, Thompson, Beasley and Twill put up last season. If they put up those same numbers in 2018 our offense won’t break the top 20.

These teams are all bad. Every team having a chance to make the playoffs means that all the teams are bad, not that they're all good. It's Philly, LA, and Minnesota, and then about 8 other average teams who could make a run if things go right, like Philly last year.
What ever makes you happy. But you're wrong. If those teams are bad, then the AFC really sucks because they only have two legit teams.

Let’s hope he retires. They already have another excuse lined up for Garrett though, after getting rid of Dez...

Witten blindsiding the Cowboys during the middle of the draft is very mature, isn't it? Uhh huhhh...

Witten was blindsided by ESPN's offer. He was working out at The Star yesterday.

Greg Olsen turned it down to play another year, and Larry Fitzgerald would get it next season and perhaps never let it go.

Witten had to strike while the opportunity was there.

Personally, I don't see him in that role. He's too bland. But I thought Troy would be, too.

Press conference starting right now.

JJ says Witten is still considering what to do. No announcement yet.

To me, sure sounds like Jason is probably heading for the sunset.

Our offense could be one of the best in the league with a healthy Smith, Zeke for a full season and Dak improved.
