What is the biggest surprise to you about the 2018 DC draft?

Me: I would've bet we would have selected a DT, probably a 1, at some point, and obviously that didn't happen... I'll remember next year not to put quite so much stock in the 30 visit inventory. In fact, I really thought this would be a defense-heavy year overall. Wrong.

Well...I guess in a round about way we did draft a DT with our 6th round pick...which resulted in Austin which resulted in Switz being traded to the Raiders for a DT.

I get that, sure, but I think you know what I mean... had the Raiders not called about Switzer, seems according to Jerry they were not necessarily going to end up with any interior D-line guys. No intentionality. But yeah, it did work out after all.

Not sure at drafting a QB ..we drafted 1 last year looks pretty good...wanted a few guys like Settle or Hurst...but we had a solid draft...nothing splashy

I’ve been suspecting this since the Johnny Football non-drafting.
Clearly, JJ is just a figurehead at this point.
He had no clue what was happening the last three days.
A coherent JJ couldn’t have set there for six rounds and let the draft play out. He would have had to move up/down and all around. Especially with ATT being the site.

The Cowboys had 9 draft picks last year. None of which were a QB.

Did you look at White and why the Cowboys drafted him? What aren't you sure about?

For me it was how they didn't have too many reaches especially with the Witten bombshell. Just looking at the picks compared to where NFL.com had them rated shows a lot of real value picks of quality players that meet needs.

LVE pick 19 NFL.com 13
Williams pick 50 NFL.com 40
Gallup pick 81 NFL.com 77
Schultz pick 137 NFL.com 83
White pick 171 NFL.com 107
Wilson pick 208 NFL.com 166
Scarbrough pick 236 NFL.com 148

I guess the trades were my bombshell.
But th pleasure was watching the drafting staff work the draft like a boss [as some one wrote].
It's really gratifying to watch our staff grow and become a recognized top drafting organization.
It's also a pleasure to be part of the board when that happens. All around great experience for me.

DT or S.

Was not a fan of how the back end of the draft went but those guys tend to be long shots anyway.
