Players You Forgot Were Ever Cowboys

I didn't want to go through 18 pages. Did anyone say Blair Thomas?

I was hoping no one would say Clay Shiver. I haven't seen anyone say Willie Blade or Torrin Tucker yet.
I can trade you a 'Pittdawg's' son, if you want. Unless someone beat me to him!
Wasn't supposed to play so soon. Struggled mightily.

Here’s some fun facts on some former Cowboys some might remember....

1. Basketball great Bill Walton’s kid brother Bruce Walton was once a T-G for Cowboys in the late 70s.
2. Author and screenwriter and former Cowboys 1960s WR Pete Gent, who wrote the novel that became a movie, “North Dallas Forty”.
3. One of my favorite early RBs for the Cowboys, Les Shy who set up the great play by play moment for former Cowboy announcer Frank Gleiber who said, “Shy is shy of the first down.”
4. Dan Reeves, who threw a TD pass in the great ICe Bowl game in 1967, was actually a player-coach for the Cowboys from 68-70.
5. Percy Howard the WR on the 75 team that almost had one of the greatest moments in SB history in SB X when Roger Staubach’s late desperation pass hit his outstretched hands and fell incomplete for what would have been the winning TD and perhaps the greatest play in SB history.

Harold Carmichael - after watching this guy work for so long as a divisional foe, it was odd seeing #17 with a star on his helmet.

Elvis Patterson - another castoff from within the division; Toast became a sold ST contributor Jimmy Johnson.

Karl Powe - I just remember this guy stepping up to help win the East at TS vs the Giants when it seemed half the roster was on the shelf that day. Who knew Pelluer to Powe would secure Tom Landry’s last winning season and division title?

Oh and Rod Hill, who is about as forgettable a first round selection as there could be. Someone may want to check me on this, but I believe he was the individual responsible for setting up Dorsett’s historic 99+ yard gallop when he fumbled the Vikings kickoff out inside our own one.

I believe this is true, but if proven wrong, I’ll happily circle back and make apologies to #25.
