The curious case of the complete TE and the 1tech

Calling Marinelli a moron was all I needed to read.

He is a moron. He's massively overrated. He's an old man who is stuck in his ways and has no idea how to stop a competent offense. The term Marinelli magic is ignorant. He hasn't accomplished anything here at all.

I guess you told me.

marinelli is a good task master for getting the most out of the dl.
he showed it in his 1st year at dallas when he had no talent.
the problem is he got promoted to DC and he brings a defense scheme as old as the garrett 90's offense playbook.

I think he likes having no talent on his defenses. This way, he isn't under any fire or scrutiny for his failures. He would have no excuses if we actually had talent on this defense. He's still stuck on his old ways from Tampa over 15 years ago.

Although I may not agree w/ this completely, I think there's a shade of truth to this.

the problem with marinelli's defense is that it depends on the offense to make a mistake.
like playing the dbs 10 yards off the wrs most of the time, hoping for an error.
he is playing stats expecting the qb will screw up x% of the time.
it is fine a lot of time when the opposing qb is not top tier.
in the playoffs, it gets exposed when the qb is top tier.

we have a 1990's offense and a 1990's defense.
teams have had decades to adjust
