wonder if the Amazon special and what other teams saw in those videos, especially his interaction with Dooley in the film room, has had any affect on team's interest in him. I for one would not want that for my coaching staff or my QB.

Interaction with Dooley? Did I miss something, do tell.

I like Dez but the one thing I will not miss is him giving up on a play as he is hollering for interference calls.

Focus on catching the ball *despite* interference.

On the field and off, Dez's head is too much on what other people think and how they are unfair to him. It only hurts him.

I don't think Witten retiring matters. We wouldn't be lining up Dez at TE. Dez's issues on the outside are still issues.

Having said that, I still see Dez as an asset to a team. Probably not the greatest fit for us, however. Hurns is largely a Dez like replacement. Much like Dez, he should be paired with more speed.

Dez + Hurns is an upgrade over Williams + Hurns. I've thought it's possible, even likely, they sign a veteran WR cap casualty.

But with Williams' issues, I wouldn't be surprised if they start someone else at WR#2, or really just rotate all the WRs there. Beasley, Thompson, Austin, Gallup. All have issues, but all give you something too.

It did, but the game and personality of Dez Bryant already cut his potential suitors in half. He wants a 1 yr prove it deal so that eliminates the team most interested in him (Ravens). He needs elite accuracy and an established presence at QB. And he also wants to have a significant role in an offense as he's looking for one more contract next year. How many teams could give him all that even if he was let go at a better time?

This off-season, teams looking for WR help were:

Buffalo
KC
Chicago
Arizona
Baltimore
NY Jets
Colts
Raiders
Washington
New Orleans
San Fran
Seattle
NY Giants
Patriots

Buffalo, Indy, Arizona, NYJ, and Chicago are all near the bottom of the league and have no established QB's. (Andrew Luck being the exception)

KC & Washington went with younger guys with more upside.

The Raiders and Seattle both signed veteran receivers in similar stages of their careers to Dez, but Gruden brought in Nelson as a veteran locker room presence who will do all the technical stuff required from a receiver. While Seattle had the opportunity to sign Dez, but turned to Marshall, who is older and just came off a serious injury.

We all know what happened with Baltimore.

The Niners and Saints have offenses that employ multiple weapons and Dez would have to be a niche player. These are possible spots if he is still interested and the timing of his release has effected neither of those opportunities.

The NYG seem to be a decent option but an Odell/Dez WR room sounds like a headache for an aging/diminishing QB; and they've got a lot of options ahead of him to get touches.

Maybe NE would have scooped him up, but I don't see then using a guy who can only do a few things. Especially when Gronk does those same things but better.

All in all, Dez's game and his theatrics in the Amazon feature have cost him. I do think he'll be on a team this year, but I think it'll take an injury or an acceptance of a lesser role to do so.
Nice read. Ty.

Because the timing of his release played no part huh?

I would have agreed with this a month ago- the timing of his release was a huge detriment to Dez

Now , I'm not so sure.

Here's why:

The timing of his release was poor on the Cowboys part as well (prior to the draft). Why cut your #1 WR with no plan?

There may be underlying issues that the Cowboys were privy to and simply had their fill of.

Other teams are probably smelling a rat in an 88 Jersey and do not want him on their club. It's as simple as that.

I definitely believe the way he interacted with his WR coach in that film session hurt him. It revealed what many of us already knew. He's no leader and is a pouty cancerous veteran. It hurt him....

Well...never confuse the media version of Deion with the Player version. They are WAY 2 different persona's. Unfortunately his on field swag is long gone and he tries to channel it through the only avenue he has left..the media. He is woeful at it..the polar opposite of the player. Deion and the words "sports journalist" should never be used together.

He was pretty flamboyant as a player too. Can you imagine Andre "bad moon" Rison and Primetime in the same locker room. Holy unholy

Obligatory-

Deion is a moron, loudmouth, and I place no value in his opinion and couldn’t care less what he thinks, about anything.

That is all.

Open the thread to say something about this and . . . lookey here . . . it's already been said !!!!! Thanks Proximo !

I remember seeing Dion give Emmitt an ole' tackle when he was playing with the Falcons, right at the goal line. Probably the most gifted athlete I ever saw play football but I wouldn't call him a warrior.

I wouldn't take Dez back for the league minimum. I appreciate his time as a Cowboy but it was time to move on. And this wide receiver group is going to surprise a lot of people.
