Zack Martin was scheduled for an MRI on Sunday after injuring his knee in Saturday night’s preseason loss to Cincinnati, and further evaluation has revealed there is no significant damage to his left knee. The Cowboys are optimistic he’ll be ready to play in time for the Sept. 9 season opener against the Carolina Panthers.

Elsewhere on the roster, Xavier Woods also underwent an MRI after injuring his hamstring on Saturday night. The second-year safety dove to break up a pass from Andy Dalton to A.J. Green in the second quarter and had trouble getting up from the play.

The timetable on Woods isn’t as clear, but it sounds like he could be out anywhere from two to four weeks.

I saw reports on Rotoworld that said Woods could have a season ending tear. Hope they are wrong and the 2-4 week timetable is correct.

Hamstrings can sometimes linger for months. I don't think they should be counting on Woods being available for some time. I see a new starting Safety arriving this week, and that Safety will be an experienced Vet.

I would hope/expect to sign Iloka or trade for ET immediately, heck I would really look at getting both of them.

We are really in a tight spot, and with 2 like that available, it would be foolish to not get at least one of them. Heck even Showers is hurt.

But then again, you never know with this FO.

Sounds like week to week after the season starts. Hope he doesn't have to make any sudden moves, you know, like safeties sometimes have to do. We better get a proven player ASAP.
